We are waiting for the big fish to move first, then we will try for the smaller ones, but they are getting snatched up fast.

Clippers would be better off with Collison, but not at over $5 mil per season. Farmar at $2 mil per season is a much better backup PG. Plus, he is a better assist man and shot like 43% from three point range last year.

Does that still leave the money for Paul Pierce?

Seems slightly backwards this year, right? I feel like in most recent years, the big fish have to land first before all the little ones, but there are just a few teams (like us) waiting on the big fish this year. It's like two separate tournaments are happening, and we're playing with the big boys. I like the strategy, actually: go for broke while Dwight is still this good, instead of trying to make us just one tiny notch better.

Doc could do it just for sentimentality, like having a grizzled cheerleader for his younger players or something.

But Pierce is going to be a 37-year-old wing who just had the lowest PER of his career and the lowest win-share since his rookie year. He's not just on the downhill part of his career; it's more like a cliff.

Could have actually really helped us shore up the pg position.

If they can get Pierce without having to give up Barnes, so trade away Dudley plus a pick instead, thats an upgrade. Can still run Barnes as the starter, and Pierce in the 2nd unit, plus play him later in games.

Pierce contributing 20 minutes a game is a very solid addition, especially in the clutch.

Farmar is a solid backup point guard, and Hawes was a big upgrade for the Clippers. If they add Pierce, before the Rockets make any moves, I'm tempted to have them as the 2nd best team in the West given that OKC has done nothing this off season.

Solid moves by Clippers. I like this deal and really love the Hawes deal. I would have loved it if Hawes had signed with Rockets.

Yeah I wanted Hawes also. It's taking too long for pieces to fall in free agency.
