The new WSJ article about Carmelo getting "mixed signals" from NY and not knowing if their max offer is "sincere" is quite interesting. If he or his agent is bothered by this, it makes PERFECT sense for the Lakers to be the team to suddenly gain momentum, since they're the only other team in this that can offer the max.

If that's the truth, sounds like everyone may still be in play with Melo.

I hope Jones is in the gym every day this summer working on extending his range and increasing his defensive ability to play multiple positions.

He has an ugly shot. Hopefully he can change his mechanics.

Why are people feeling the need to be pro or anti Jones???

Jones has a unique skill set for a PF, and can fit into many different roles. He has his weaknesses sure, but he showed last year that he make teams pay when they pay too much attention to Howard and Harden. If you add in a 3rd all-star caliber player at the PG position, or if Parsons improves even more, it would make what he does that much easier.... which is pretty much just to make teams pay for overcompensating on the stars.

The addition of Bosh though, would put Jones in a much more lucrative role coming off the bench in a 3 big man rotation. Coming off the bench most likely means he'll be facing smaller lineups where he can matchup size wise, but have the skill-set to out-athlete bigger/slower bigs, and over-power small ball lineups in the paint. He's perfect in that role.

Why you'd want to immediately throw Jones in the garbage with a Bosh, Love, etc. addition is beyond me. I think Jones gets better with that type of acquisition.

I wanna hold on to T-Jones. He's gonna be something special one day, I can feel it.

    Seriously a mini Dwight Howard.

Bosh has a much bigger impact on the outcome of games. For example, his WAR (wins above replacement) is a stellar +9.24 while TJones’ WAR is only +1.22; Bosh’s per game Raw Plus/Minus (+/-) is +5.6 while Tjones' +/- is only +1.8; TJones’ Net Rtg (Offense + Defense) is +4.1 (Rox are 4pts better with him on the floor) but Bosh’s Net Rtg of +9.8 is twice as good (Heat are 9.8 pts better with him on the floor); TJones’ WS (win share) is +7.3 games but Bosh produces +8.0 games. TJones' shooting stats are actually pretty good (PER, eFG, TS%) and his presence on the court does have a positive effect. He's a good offensive player. But statistically, his offense does not seem to impact the outcome of games whereas Bosh's offense does. Defensively, Bosh is light years better; nothing to debate there. Decide for yourselves but based on last season's statistics, Bosh is better on both sides of the ball. But if the argument is about potential, there are no stats for that. My only question about Bosh is whether 34% 3pt FG% is good enough for a stretch four on this team. Box score stats taken from nba.com, RPM and WAR from espn.com, Win Shares (WS) and player salaries from basketball-reference.com, and x-RAPMs from http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com):

    Chris Bosh (per game): PPG = 16.2 (on 12.1 FGA); FG% = 51.6; 3pt FG% = 33.9; RPG = 6.6; Blks = 1.0; Stl = 1.0; +/- = +5.6; TOV = 1.6; AST = 1.1; eFG = 55.5; TS% = 59.7; OffRtg = 110.6; Def Rtg = 100.8; Net Rtg = +9.9 (the team is 9.9 pts better with Bosh on the floor); WAR = +9.24 (5th among the 81 C’s in the league); PER = 19.11; ORPM = +0.39 (7th best among the 81 C’s in the league and 131st among the 450 players in the league); DRPM = +3.34 (16th best of the 81 C’s; 27th best among the 450 players in the league); Overall RPM = +3.73 (ranks 6th best among the 81 C’s and 31st best in the entire league); OWS (win shares-Off) = 4.6; DWS (win shares-Def) = 3.4; Total WS = +8.0 games; x-RAPM (Off) = +0.55; x-RAPM (Def) = +3.27; Minutes = 32.0; Age = 30; Salary (Cap Hit) = $20.08M.

    Terrence Jones (per game): PPG = 12.1 (on 9.4 FGA); FG% 54.2; 3ptFG% = 30.7; RPG = 6.9; Blks = 1.2; Stl = 0.7; +/- = +1.8; TOV = 0.9; AST = 1.1; ; eFG = 56.4; TS% = 57.7; OffRtg = 109.9; Def Rtg = 105.8; Net Rtg = +4.1 (the team is better by 4pts with him on the floor); WAR = +1.22 (38th best among the 87 PFs and 181st among the 450 players in the league); PER = 19.14; ORPM = +0.49 (23rd best among the 87 PFs in the league and 122nd among the 450 players in the league; DRPM = -1.91 (81st among the 87 PFs and 360th of all 450 players in the league); Overall RPM = -1.42 (50th of 87 PFs and 234th among the 450 players in the league); OWS = 4.6; DWS = 2.7; Total WS = +7.3 games; x-RAPM (Off) = +0.87; x-RAPM (Def) = -1.45; Minutes = 27.3; Age = 22; Salary (Cap Hit) = $1.82M.

lawd. At this rate we might as well try to sign D-Wade to play a Manu Ginoboli style off the bench role and re-sign Parsons.

 You guys comparing Terrence Jones to Chris Bosh are on crack. Let's compare Chandler Parsons to Kevin Durant while we're at it.

How did all this "Us vs Them" stuff start w/ TJ vs Bosh? We can have both!

Howard 35 minutes at C, Bosh 13 Minutes at C
Bosh 22 minutes as starting PF, TJ 26 minutes at PF

Clint Capela as your reserve big man if someone is injured. Package D-Mo.

How is he a mini Dwight Howard? His defense is terrible and he's not an amazing rebounder.

The only things they have in common is that they are both athletic and can't shoot.

He's not going to be anything special unless he learns to shoot and play defense.

I'm big fan of TJ, but comparing him to Bosh is laughable.
