Wouldn't that sort of defeat the anonymity?

Me too. Love is younger and cheaper.

The problem with Love is that we would have to trade for him. So even though I would rather Love over Bosh, that isn't the full question.

Would you rather Love, or would you rather Bosh+Parsons?

+ Jones easily. I think Jones can be a stud in the league and Bosh could really help ween him in. Have a rotation of DMO / Jones /Bosh / Howard. The thing that Bosh has that Melo nor Love has is the ability to not only play back up center but to also dominate at it.

Love keeps our window open much longer, but Bosh probably produces us a better product on the court for the next couple years. Tough call.

No. Their best hope would be that he either said A) I WILL ONLY PLAY FOR THE LAKERS or B) signs in FA next offseason like a bizarro Howard.

Carmelo wants to play with two guys past their primes in LA?

Sometimes these players aren't very smart I see..I guess he'll be in Hollywood though, which is what is most important.

I loved the NBA last year when it wasn't lakers 24/7. There are 30 teams in the NBA, but we have the hear nothing but their BS drama non stop good or bad. I think Adam Silver strives for competitive balance but obviously there are other forces at work bigger than him that aren't homing to sleep until the Lakers are back in the news.

Lakers clearly isn't a winning move unless LeBron goes with him. This would indicate that Melo based his decision completely on being in one of the two American "glamour" cities (although I think San Francisco has been more romanticized than LA) and that LaLa did not think her career could blossom in Houston or Chicago.

Kobe would hand the keys of LA to Melo. Dwight didn't want to wait 3 years for Kobe to be gone -- Melo would only have to wait 2. Plus they're friends.

Verbal agreement with NY as early as tomorrow.

I do wonder how much Lala plays a role in this.

Melo's career could blossom in Houston. Durant plays in OKC and is one of the most popular stars in the NBA.

The Glamour city mess has always been a load of BS. Back then, back in the 70s I'm sure it was true. Nowadays though there is this thing called the internet. The world is more global. You can play in Alaska and people would know who you are if you're a great player.

The only way Melo will rise his brand is winning rings. That is the only way. Losing in a big city will only cause him to flame out and be tossed aside, these guys never seem to get that.

I just don't see how without Lebron the Lakers are a good choice. Kobe may be trash next year. I know...I know he's Kobe, but he's human last I checked. You don't return from that injury the same at his age...and Pau Gasol is past his prime. He's a good pick up for a team like OKC...but a centerpiece of a team? Not anymore.

Thanks for the info Cyberx. Personally think a lot of the Lakers stuff is noise. They can neither offer the most money or the most talented roster. The reason to go there would be "it's LA".....nothing else. Melo/Kobe/Gasol would be primed for a 1st round exit...possibly missing the playoffs altogether. They don't have the assets to unload Nash unless they include Randle.

I think Melo is going back to NY, unless he decides to join LeBron somewhere (not LA).
