I think we could get Bosh under the max.

Correct my numbers, but the Heat can offer 12-15 mil a year, maybe 16?
And reports have said he's looking for a 5 year 80-90 mil contract? (16-18mil a year.)

I think we could get him at 4yr, 78 million.
    Max Contract over 4 years would be what? 22mil, 23, 24 25?
    So I' m thinking 18mil, 19, 20, 21 for 19.5 mil/yr avg.

It'd be perfect for the Rockets, it would screw the Heat, and if Pau goes to the Heat to fill the void then it would screw NYC's Melo retention plan too. Step 3 Profit.

You might need to pay Bosh the extra to pry him away. He might need that extra bit of incentive to move his family to another city.

It's funny people say bosh is soft yet he played great d the first time he played the spurs and he's been playing out of position for years. Him and Dwight defensively>>>>>Dwight and Love. Plus like others said we get to keep Parsons AND the pick. On offense he isn't love but be real do we really need THAT MUCH OFFENSE. Bosh can do a lot, but the reason why the heat basically turned him into a corner 3 pt shooter(not that I agree w/ that) is because the threat of him on the wing is hard enough for teams to deal with.

And one more thing, Dwight doesn't like to play pick and pop. So we run harden/bosh pick and rolls with howard in the post and parsons/bev on the wings. Pick your poison. As long as the team gets better defensively we make the WCF easily. I know thats I didn't say finals but you don't get to the finals just on paper so I can't call that

to be honest, love has never been put in a situation to play good D. look who is on the floor with him lol Rubio is a gambler and people get past him all the time, Kevin Martin... enough said, brewer is the only solid defender in their lineup, and Pekovic is a horrible team defender as well. If you pair him with Dwight and Beverley, he could be serviceable as a defender and his offense >>>>>>> Bosh's, especially as a floor spacer (Bosh's career high on 3's is only ~33%). So, obviously Love is the best fit, but the difference is that we won't have to trade Parsons to acquire Bosh, which IMO is why I think Bosh is a better acquisition for us.

Yes. The Rockets aren't going to have cap space for years after they match Parsons offer sheet this offseason. It's either get that third star now, and keep Parsons as a wonderful 4th option, or have to trade Parsons down the road to get that piece. Bosh and Parsons is better than any scenario where you must deal Parsons to get the third star(see Love or Rondo discussions).

Plus, you have to make him an offer that gives a reason to bail on miami.

I believe in Clutchfans. At first, I wanted Melo but after reading these posts, I'm convinced Bosh is a player this team needs. Terrence Jones got murdered in the play-offs, so we need someone in the PF position like Bosh or maybe Love though idk Love's game that well. If a max contract is needed then so be it. Plus, it causes more problems for Miami. Haha.

Bosh is on his annual world tour vacation with his wife & kids, and won't be back in the states until like 2 more weeks, so we just have to hope Howard is making the calls "they are good friends".... Even if he commits I'm sure morey wants him to sign on the 10th so he can start making other moves. Maybe he will fly back.

Why do people consider Bosh "soft"?

What specifically does he do to make him "soft"?

He doesn't like to (chandler) "bang".
    This is well documented.

I really think those who say hes soft are saying it because of those funny videos of him not being " manly "

Soft is not a real talking point, just worthless basketball rhetoric. It's a cop out substitute for just saying I don't like the guy, but I don't have a reason. No nba team has a softness evaluation for players when they are considering them.

Hell, I don't consider him "soft," and would like to get the guy if we can't get someone like Love. My "problem" is that I don't think we should shell out more than $18 million a season for 4 years to a guy that's 30, is not a consistent shooter from 3, and hasn't hit double figures in rebounds for 5 years.

He plays center for his team and constantly matches up against players larger than him. Whether he "likes to bang" or not, he bangs plenty of big guys.

Maybe on offense he doesn't post up a whole lot, but on defense he's often guy banging the likes of Duncan and Dwight Howard.

I see your points, but consider this:

Would you have paid 30-year-old Rasheed Wallace the maximum salary to join this team? I would.

Rasheed Wallace shares many of the attributes that Bosh has: Doesn't rack up high rebound totals, plays away from the basket, high level mid-range shooter but only a 34% career 3 point shoter, very good offensive player (who probably doesn't shoot as often as he should have) and great defender due to length and smarts.

In some ways, Bosh is better than Wallace-- doesn't get technical fouls that often, better finisher at the rim and more efficient offensively.

Also, if guys like Stu Jackson (NBA Executive VP until 2013) are right about the NBA's revenue projections, the salary cap is gonna go up fast (both due to a general increase in revenue and more importantly because of an anticipated huge increase in the income from a new national TV deal when the current on expires in 2016), and a "max contract" signed today will not look that big even 2 years from now, when the 2016-17 season salary is (according to Stu Jackson) projected to be around $80M.

Not an option unless you're committed to letting Parsons walk, signing no one beyond 2 years and essentially wasting the next two seasons.

Terrence Jones is already a way better all around player than Bosh, and TJ has better defense than Bosh who gets on every guards posters. We'll be paying Bosh millions for his midrange jumpshots. No thanks, DMo+TJ can handle whatever offense Bosh can add.

what do you mean? we are a 54 win team. all rockets need is to keep the core and develop team chemistry. last year was dwights first year. they perfected offense, now is the year to develop chemistry and defense to mirror spurs team play. spurs didnt win once against us. watch the xmas game against spurs. if rockets play that complete on a consistent basis, they will own teams easy. that xmas game is the full potential of rockets team play, championship level. they outclassed spurs on xmas day.

Technically nobody is soft in the NBA but the guy relative to other PFs like Randolph, Duncan, Garnett is soft.

He isn't a good rebounder and he doesn't have any low post game any longer. All he does is shoot from the outside. Hekk he has admitted himself he doesn't like to bang down low.

    I'd consider that soft.
