Maybe we should hope that it happens so Bosh is more likely to jet from Miami. The east would blow so much harder though...

I don't know how the Lakers would get both Melo & Lebron to agree to 15 million each, and then get Gasol back. Keep in mind that they have to renounce his rights to open up the cap space in the first place. The most they will be able to offer him is the mid level which is about half of what has been rumored elsewhere.

-As for the Nash trade to open up more cap space? Well if they actually had draft picks to offer a team, they could trade him easily.

The Rockets are able to trade Lin because they were smart and didn't salvage all their draft picks in the future, and Les Alexander spent millions on 2nd rounders, and talent overseas for this very reason. If the Lakers and their dumb ass fans want to cry about collusion they aren't going to get any sympathy from people that actually paid attention to what the Rockets front office has done to be put in this situation. You want to move bad contracts???..... Don't blow your draft picks.

Best way to play with Melo is in Miami by screwing over wade haha. Bet lakers really sorry about that killer contract they gave to Kobe now. However, although I think Melo to LA is possible, I really don't see Kobe there. Lebron is chasing Kobe in the rings department. Every ring he wins for Kobe keeps Kobe out of reach and leaves open the argument that Kobe is better than Lebron. I really don't think Lebron will go for that. To be the best of all time or up there with Jordan, Lebron HAS to bypass Kobe. Doesn't work if Lebron gets 4 rings but Kobe gets 8 rings...

Even if Lakers finds a taker for Nash, they owe $27M on 3 guys alone (Kobe, Randle, Sacre) and adding the empty roster charges we are talking about $31M, leaving roughly another $31M or $32M in cap room to be split between Lebron and Melo.

If these two are willing to take that kind of discount to play together, they might as well do it in Miami with Bosh and Wade in an easier conference and in a state with no state income tax.

Exactly right, don't get the need to relocate if that's the case.

So... Do players respect Dwight and Harden?

    What about Morey? McHale?

Randle hasn't been signed yet. Lakers are waiting to sign FA's first and THEN they will sign Randle.

That is why you may not see him in the summer league :)

I understand why everyone respects Kobe. But Kobe is a direct competitor to Lebron on the all time legacy ladder. If he helps Kobe get to 8, it will be very tough for him to pass Kobe as an all time great, or at least leave doubt. Not sure I see it, but who knows how these guys think. I think it makes more sense for Melo to stay in NY, then for Lebron to resign with Miami for 1 year and then go to NY if Miami doesn't improve in a year. That way they both stay in the east and play together under Phil instead of going through the gauntlet of the west. I bet that's the pitch that NY is making right now.

I'm sure cyberx has taken a survey.

    What a trolltastic question.

Melo to the Lakers would be sheer comedy. A lottery team in the west still.

If Melo truly goes to LA, there is no way in hell Lebron is coming to the west (except to join LAL). Why unnecessarily complicate your trip to the finals?

No doubt he gets respect but he's also clashed with EVERY star who has come through LA(besides Nash). It's one thing for Kobe to put the Swaggy Ps of the world in their place, but I'm not sure a guy like Lebron or Melo is going to like Kobe criticism when they will be carrying that team.

You can play in Summer league without being signed and just having rights. The Rockets played Marty Leunen today, and Nick Johnson still has yet to be signed.

If Melo and James pair anywhere, it should be phoenix.

    Bledsoe/Ennis
    Dragic/Green
    Anthony/Tucker/Warren
    James/Frye/Marcus
    Plumlee/Len/Markieff

Outright sign both James and Melo to 4 year near 80 million type deals, re-sign Bledsoe, Frye, Tucker with bird rights. They keep all their draft picks as well.

That would be the most insane team in nba history I think. Of course, probably won't happen because their in Phoenix not LA, MIA or NYC.

Nope. I hope the team recognizes this. All I want for Christmas is an angry team with a chip on its shoulder. Time to make them regret it.

Would be crazy as hell if it happens.

But imagine if LeBron and Melo are so gung ho about making this happen that they agree to take back loaded contracts with less salary until Kobe's contract is clear?

Also Nash is due 9.7 million....ouch!
