Bima reported that the other team would have to pay us back if this is the case.

Old news dude. Coon verified that money has to be accounted for in a trade. Apparently he got that from the league office because there's nothing about it in the CBA however.

What bothers me about Lin is he will become a sought out trade-able commodity at the trade deadline. Some playoff team with a trade exception or an expiring contract will coming looking for Lin for a playoff run.

Considering they had no decent second scoring option, I think Lin would've been valuable to them. Here he was a terrible signing because he ended up being a 4th option off the bench. If you asked most Knicks fans they regret not matching for Lin because of how horrible Felt on was and the fact that his 3yr contract wouldn't interfere with their 2015 free agency. And even with that 15 mil balloon payment, Dolan would have made that up and more in marketing dollars

Lin is such a unique player. It's like he puts up solid numbers and is definitely worth at least 5 mil a year based off his production, and I can easily see him putting up big numbers on a bad team...however, like another poster said, he's too much of a potential game changer in a negative way. Like when the pressure is at its highest, he's an accident waiting to happen, mainly due to his decision making and sloppy ball handing. Even though he had that great game in game 5, down the stretch in game 6, I would cringe every time he touched the ball and wanted to make a play, I felt better whenever Lin gave up the ball to a teammate.

That team was a mess. Outside of all the shots melo took you had JR smith jacking up a bunch too. Not to mention Bargs, Amare, Felton and Hardaway Jr taking their fair share. It's well documented that Melo and Lin aren't exactly cordial and Lin isn't a viable second option so I think it would have been a disaster on the court. I don't disagree with you he would have helped marketing wise. Felton is awful but they remember Linsanity in NY and not what we got stuck with in Houston. NY fans would have turned on him quick imo

Now the Milwaukee Bucks want Lin. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. The 76ers and Bucks battling for perfect PG to lead them to the worst record in the league.

But this still won't knock any sense into LOFs. Lin gets b****slapper, turns other cheek, gets b****slapped again, then praises Jesus like he's some humble, morally superior person. But naw, he's just a loser b****. Maybe ask God for the ability to shoot the damn ball, like a professional NBA PG should.

Lin's best value is as an expiring contract. If a team can get a second rounder (and cash) for him from the Rox plus another pick, cash and possible player upgrade at the '15 deadline then that team will have done well to help us facilitate this space.

This is a classic Morey move for a non-contending team.

But but but but king1 said he has no value absolutely.

I agree with you. He's clearly not $15m but come trade deadline with an expiring contract and his skills he would have value or be at worst a push on his contract so we wouldn't have to add an asset then. That's why Morey wouldnt trade Lin now unless we land a good free agent. If we trade him now we probably lose a late first rounder; if we trade him at deadline we lose nothing or maybe even get an asset. I like Lin but am not a blind fan - but Jodie Meeks got freakin $6m a year and I'd take Lin from a basketball perspective over Meeks any day.

I just think the good moments never came close to outweighing the bad. PG is the deepest position in the NBA and I wouldn't be comfortable paying him 5 mil a year as a backup. You don't want your back up PG costing you games and Lin is going to do that. He'[s easily replaceable for a lot cheaper.

I think Jason Kidd in Milwaukee would be great for Lin.

LOL you're out of your mind. If he's easily replaceable, give me some names.
If he's easily replaceable the Rockets would've shipped him out by now. But they haven't because if they can't get Melo, they're probably going to bring him back and look for more deals during the season because there is no easy answer for the Rockets. You can call him a back-up PG all you want to lessen his importance, but the bottom line is he's your best scorer and distributor off the bench.

Agree with you about the Melo-Lin thing. Don't know if that wouldve worked. But watching the Knicks you could tell they desperately needed a scoring option. Even Stephen A Smith was talking about how Melo has no one else. Heck, he even said they should have kept Lin.

Everyone and their mom knows Lin isn't a viable second option on a good team, but on a bad team like the Knicks he couldve helped them squeeze into the playoffs in the ****ty East. Guess we'll just agree to disagree there.

Meanwhile, Rockets, Cavs pushing closer to creating max contract slots. Deals lined up for Jeremy Lin. This sort of tweet from woj tells me that it seems that Morey actually has a bit of leverage in the market. If more than one team wants Lin then that creates some leverage

That's kind of dumb. Lin might not be that good, but at least he tries and gives 100% effort
