It seem Lowry is gonna wait it out few days, seems like good timing for the Rockets. Pardon my ignorance but is there any feasible scenario where we can come up with Melo AND Lowry without giving up Parsons, Harden or D12?

It's pretty difficult. You have to remember that the Knicks are in a very similar situation to the Lakers last year...paying the luxury tax but not competing. I think it's fairly likely they come to the same conclusion LA did....let him walk and save the tax.

If the Knicks won't help us on a SnT, then we have to use cap space, which means getting rid of both Lin and Asik, and we won't have enough contracts to trade for Lowry in a SnT. So no......I would say it's not possible.

    Lowry and Love OTOH.......

Lowry Millsap would be perfect, but I'm not sure we have the players Atlanta would want excluding Parsons

The Rockets are not getting Melo. They have a shot at Lowry.

Lowry, Harden, Parson, Jones, Howard. That's what you should be hoping for.

    Nah - we're getting Melo.

    Lowry, Harden, Melo, Jones, Howard

    Looks a lot better.
The bench will need some work though...

Rockets should be targeting Lance Stephenson, not Lowry. Stephenson is more versatile (can play 3 positions) and can also be a scorer off the bench (better yet, parsons can be the 6th man so the starting 5 would be more improved defensively).

Price between 2 players should be in same range. Both are headcases, but Stephenson is more versatile and a better fit.

This is the trade made after the Rockets signing of Melo.

    Bledsoe, Frye & Len
    ...in a S&T for...
Parsons & DMo PLUS NOH pick and ours

Suns have Dragic as their starting point and Parsons would fit well as the 1st or 2nd option. If it is going to happen for DMo this is the year. Plus two 1st round PICKS. (Plumlee's play has made Len trade able / Frye is walking anyway) Bledsoe > Parsons so why would PHX do this? Are the Suns a championship caliber team at the moment? If not would this trade make them better? The two 1st round picks in 2015 (the hope of DMo - last year of contract) & Parsons. Parsons plays well as a 2nd option, and he fits and fills a need on the PHX squad PLUS he would give the Suns more as a starter than Bledsoe does as a back up. Making their value almost even when team need is taken into consideration. Parsons is a great player and wonderful option at any price but not for the Rockets at this time. I think it makes them better today and in the future.

Rockets fill most of their needs with a staring point in Bledsoe, spacing in Frye, and a solid young big in Len. (over paying Parsons as the 4th option is not good for the TEAM long term / Jones and Frye make DMo trade able) The Rockets have 2 max player and are adding a third in Melo (a small forward). Three max contract plus Parsons new contract will leave them with no cap flexibility and the point guard position manned for less than 3M a year for both starter and back up. (Minimum and rookie contracts at the point guard position is not a championship caliber team ever)

    Going forward
    Bledsoe / Beverly
    Harden / Johnson
Melo /??? (return from J. Lin trade)
    Frye / Jones
    Howard / Len

^ Can't combine S&T players with another player.. and you have two. I don't even know who's all in the trade.

Remind me again how much Manu makes? Oh yeah, $13M. You say bench guy, I say 6th starter.

Could Nick Johnson be showcased like Jeremy Lamb and be a piece in a trade for Kevin Love?

Possibly, but not a significant one. Lamb was a lottery pick, which is where his real value came from. I'd rather keep him and see what he can do.

Beverley has already been showcased and the league knows he's a proven nasty, nasty man. Bev 's trade value is there and Bev may be the key asset along with the Pelies pick that helps us reel in Love. Because, you know
    We

    are

    not

    trading

    Parsons!

Bosh would be probably the ideal fit basketball wise for the traditional 4.
On offense, He is a stretch pf with a deadly midrange and decent 3 pointer to create space.
He can play pick and roll and is already used to being 2/3rd banana and can do it well.
On defense, his size/length/veteran savy make him one of the best mobile big defenders in the league. While Lebron's brilliance in the wings made Miami's helter skelter demfense terrifying, it was Bosh that anchored and cross covered matchups.
Personality wise he is aloof and pretty intelligent, which seems to be the mantra of the current rockets roster.
Also, Morey always seems to get his man... Eventually.
4yr max with a ETO should be enough to pry him away imo.
Our pitch will be that he will be much more appreciated here and get paid like it. Why should he have to sacrifice $$$ when he has already done it before and Lebron wanting max is essentially cutting into his salary?
