Firing McHale and hiring a real coach would improve the rockets more than Carmelo...

JVG would get this group of Rockets past Portland for sure. McHale's no-accountability coaching is getting us no where.

I thought the Realist was being kinda quiet with the threads.

LOL at the guy that left this as rep:

I truly feel sorry for the fact that you understand so little about the game and underestimate the significance of leadership. I mean...soldiers do all the fighting, only idiots would credit generals and commanders .

McHale ain't going anywhere, people. It's gonna take another first round flameout before Morey and Les finally understand the importance of a competent head coach. I just hope by that point Dwight doesn't already have one foot out the door since he can opt out in 2016.

JVG never won as many games with the Rockets as McHale, and never made it out of the first round. (I just noted this in another thread.)

I love JVG. I just don't understand the hate for McHale, who has a better win % than JVG and similar playoff record.

Why that? Because McHale is as clueless as Woodson and would only play iso-Melo to please him?

Morey... Err I mean McHale, of course.... runs a fast-paced, high-possessions based offense with a young, offensively potent mixture of players...

JVG ran a slow-paced, low-possession defense based system, with T-mac, Yao and crap... and after their first year together, he rarely had both healthy for any extended period of time...

The former has provided more regular season wins for a small number of teams since the league transitioned from being a big man's game to being perimeter friendly, it's not something recent, let alone new, that you'd like to credit McHale for.... But unlike the latter, it has yet to prove it's mettle in the playoffs...

    The key is balance...

I think Morey and Kidd would be BFFs

All I credited McHale for is having a higher win % with the Rockets than JVG (fact). And similar playoff record. T-Mac and Yao were better than Dwight and Harden. As for the former Rockets you call "crap," I'm not sure Bev, Parsons and T Jones really kick their asses.

Now people want JVG and his, as you say, "slow-paced, low-possession defense based system." I'm not really seeing that with this squad.

Id actually prefer Adelman over both. But I forgot Morey ran him off too.

To be a realist, pun intended, it is better for us to get the STARS now IF we can because we won't have cap space to probably get them later. While I too would prefer a better coach than McHale, once we get our stars, Morey can make that decision at any time he desires when he chooses to. There will still be quality coaches better than McHale available, but these stars won't be available for us to sign with no cap space.

Like the bad refs, I've already assumed McHale's coaching is part of the game

I'm very concerned about our coaching staff. We're keeping Mchale around to prove to the league how much "stability" we have at the coaching position.

    Smh.
