Melo hasn't signed anywhere. Nothing has come from the Miami trio. Love hasn't been traded. But it's like the end of days around here.

Call me an optimist, but I think this is in the bag. Don't know who we will get, but the fact that we haven't moved onto other targets and everyone else has tells me we are in good shape.

Quit freaking out. Have confidence in the staff that got us this far.

i think people are freaking out for good reason. as we wait for lebron, melo, bosh, and lowry to resign with their own teams, we are missing out on sefalosha, hawes, and deng will be next.

we just watched how 3 stars get whooped by 10 good players and instead of building a great bench we want to wait to get a 3rd star.

now of course if you have the chance at a player like melo you have to go for it, but while we wait to see if that happens, our safety net of MLE type role players is disappearing.

Smoothie, you are a smart poster and I respect your posts, so I hope you do not take this as an aggressive post to you. But, Sefalosha or Hawes are not going to turn us into SA. Deng is going to make us a lot better, but still will not turn us into SA. There is only one POP. POP is a big reason why SA is SA.

Going after Bosh, Love, Melo, Lebron is worth the cost of losing Sefalosha, Hawes and even Deng (who, is still looking to get about 10M and an unlikely FA signing). SA will not have the big three during the next four years. We will be up next.

Morey knows this is the LAST year we will have to spend big money so freely -- whether we land a big star or not.

Let's assume the worst, that Morey misses out on Melo, Bosh, Lebron and Minny decides not to trade with us for Love (which, respectable members on this board are of the belief that we have a deal already in place involving Parsons). You are talking about Morey. He is one of the best at evaluating hidden talent. He knows that if we miss on those stars and miss on a few bench players, we will figure it out. It's not as big of a risk as everyone is making it out to be.

Let's look at talent he found seemingly out of nowhere:
Scola (though, highly regarded, we got for a player who never played one minute in the NBA), Landry, Brooks, Bev, Parsons, Lowry, Dragic. Guys like Gortat and Asik are both players Morey went very aggressive after before they were more known in the league. Specialist like Novak and Troy Daniels. Even Ariza, who was not worth that contract given his role on our team, but now members on here would gladly give him the MLE!

Sure, there are misses too. But, let's not forget there will still be players to be had. Ariza wasn't coming over here in the first place. Deng is looking like he is going to get paid. Hawes or Thabo both aren't even game-changers, even on our team.

Summary: Morey's specialty is finding quality, hidden, inexpensive talent. There are a lot of players under Morey's radar if we lose out on the stars.

your post doesn't disagree with mine. read my last sentence. "now of course if you have the chance at a player like melo you have to go for it..." any of us in morey's seat would be going for lebron and melo. you HAVE to.

but OP asked "why is everyone freaking out?" its because (as i said) "while we wait to see if that happens, our safety net of MLE type role players is disappearing."

that's why people are freaking out. i didn't say they were right to freak out, i just said that's why they are. ;)

If you're not familiar with Carl, he's either a troll or his way of loving the Rockets is via the role of Debbie Downer. Not sure which is actually true though I'm leaning toward the latter:grin:

No. It's every fan base. I've skimmed Chicago and NY boards to see if they have any local inside info that we can't find here. And they're basically the same thing.

Knicks fans are already discussing the pros and cons of a Melo Max and whether they're screwed or starting a contender. Bulls fans are already re-signed to repeat of 2011 LeBron/Wade fiasco, and questioning the incompetence of their own management.

    Fans gonna fan.

Clutchfans just have something in them that makes them just a little bit more insane than anyone else!

And thus, the shape of the GARM.

    Thanks Murray

Everyone isn't freaking out. Only the usual suspects are freaking out, and they look for any excuse to do that.
