Fair enough and I believe the Rockets brass always have contingency plans lined up. The thing is, even if you have contingency plans in place to acquire Kevin Love or Rajon Rondo, timing is also an issue that you have no control over. What if Love gets traded before you the free agents you are pursuing make a decision? That is the risk you take. Doc mentioned three "deuces" in one of his tweets. You are almost gambling by taking this route. If you come up short, it is like you are playing with a pair of deuces which is not a very strong hand.
I am quite sure DM has been exploring that. The problem is that he can't force Parsons to go to Minnesota. Even if he could, Houston's offers can be beaten.
In that scenario, I doubt we risk it. If you have to either pull the trigger or lose out, you execute immediately. Fortunately, it seems everyone in the basketball world is waiting patiently for Melo and Bron.
Another DocRocket tweet he sent me. Sounds promising in some respects. “@Thedocrocket: @fyrebear tbh,I hear diff stories:No1 knows jack. 2peeps(1BIGWIG) feel GREAT bout/CA,1guy says LOVE's Rox #1,LBJ=no. Justellin what I hear.” https://twitter.com/thedocrocket/status/485072286127382529
Before the rants come, he predicted that trade talks would go down near trade deadline in December (which happened). Was right, and thus should be taken seriously.
I never understood this. Why would Melo want to play with Rose who hasn't played for almost 2 seasons. The reason he is looking to leave is because Stoudemire hasn't been able to stay healthy. Chicago also has a history for being cheap all the way back to the Jordan years.
I really think it come downs to between New York and Houston that Melo considers. If Paul won't sign with NY, then we will be the winner in the Melo sweepstake.
This! Exactly! If I am interpreting Doc's tweets correctly, he is saying, go ahead and call up Philadelphia before July 4th and do the trade that clears cap space by trading Lin. Then do the trade for Kevin Love, but you will have to take back (eat) a bad contract, which would be Kevin Martin. This nets you Kevin Love and Kevin Martin (two Kevins). Could it be that this trade may not be available after July 4th? I can see why the Rockets would not want to do this for salary cap purposes and have been holding off on consummating this trade. You also have to consider what the Rockets would have to give up. With the increased salary and possible rotations guys, draft picks as well as prospects being traded, it would make it harder to replenish your bench.
Do you guys think Pau would come here for the MLE if we were to get Melo? Dwight/Gasol Melo/Gasol/Clint Parsons/Melo/Covington Harden/Daniels Beverly/Canaan/Brooks(vet minimum)
Houston is a waay different place now my friend. Just ask drake. Plus im sure melo knows what hot and what's not. And right now. The city of Houston is hot
Lin's salary is necessary for any Love trade. So the Rockets aren't trading him anywhere if we're going after Love. He's only leaving for Melo or another FA. And I doubt the offer is off the table after today. The only other suitor right now's probably Chicago. And they're waiting for Melo just like us. I think the reason why the Love deal hasn't been done yet is simply due to Parsons. Rockets won't give him up. Wolves forcing us to give him up. It doesn't help that Chandler's best bud Dwight is openly saying that Parsons will return.
He was. IIRC, Clutch even validated cyberx in his tweet once news came out of the trade talks. https://twitter.com/clutchfans/status/436236997753970690
