Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess).

7-3 Brett Oberholtzer, LHP vs. Matt Shoemaker, RHP 9:05

7-4 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. C.J. Wilson, LHP 8:05

7-5 Scott Feldman, RHP vs. Hector Santiago, LHP 9:05

7-6 Collin McHugh, RHP vs. Garrett Richards, RHP 2:35

As poorly as we've been playing this could get ugly.

I'm surprised to see Santana out of the lineup. I would think you play him every day while you have him - if he sucks then so be it and he's get sent down with Fowler is ready.

Don't necessarily disagree, but the emotional high if coming to the show followed by a couple of games without having success, then a long flight...might not hurt the kid to take a day off and breathe.

I bet if there was a stat showing average distance away from a pitch on a swing and miss, Carter would lead by a large margin.

Chris Carter struck out on a breaking ball that looked to be about a foot off the plate. Oh, and it looked like it bounced too. #canpredictball

Singleton has been hanging around Carter too much.

Well the fun ended quickly, we are now tied for the worst record with the DBacks. At least we have young players, that have a future for us, getting big league experience.

So.... Jose Altuve has played 84 of a possible 87 games this season. And in those 84 games, he has 121 hits.

Ichiro, in his record-breaking 2004 season, had 117 hits through 84 games played. He played in all of them up to that point.

Through 87 team games, Ichiro had 120 hits.

6 or 8 weeks of good play doesn't make a season. We all, self included, were in dire need of reasons for optimism and let our selves believe that climbing out of a hole meant we couldn't slid back into it. At least, this is what we wanted to believe.

But time has a way of correcting perceptions into reality. And the reality is that while this team has talent, and more on the way, we are raw and inexperienced.

The most hits in a single season in the last 50 years is Kirby Puckett at 234 hits. The top of the all time single season list is filled with left handed hitters except for Al Simmons and Rogers Hornsby.

Didn't Ichiro have 262 early 2000s? Or do you mean for a right handed hitter?

The Astros are gonna have to add a bat or two in free agency. There are no big time sluggers available, but there are some lesser options to improve the lineup. This lineup is just bad, unless our pitchers completely dominate, we lose. The trade market is also an option, we can move some of thus pitching depth.

Singleton and Santana may turn into good hitters, but they may not, most prospects don't pan out, that's a simple fact. Correa has been pushed back to late 2015 at the earliest, and it will might be 2017 until he's an actual impact hitter. We have to supplement this lineup, we can't assume all prospects will pan out when we know some won't.

Aside from Fowler/Springer/Altuve every other hitter has been terrible. I've been the most patient person here with Carter, but I'm done with him. You can live with Matty D, but only if you improve the rest of the lineup and he is pushed way down the order. Castro has been this team's biggest disappointment, and the AAA catchers aren't doing well either.

Still really optimistic about the direction, but this is an obvious problem right now.
