I don't agree with Lin on this, but his understanding of turned the other cheek was by not coming out and explicitly say Rockets shouldn't have put his number Melo jersey WITHOUT informing him first!

Not asking permission, just inform. Like hey Jeremy, we will be putting your # up on Melo's jersey. Just standard procedure, don't mind it.

But this makes him sound passive aggressive.

Heck how many of our past players said good stuff when they say good bye?

Francis, Jim Jackson, Battier, Lowry, Scola, Martin, Morris etc. Who liked how the organization treated them?

I like Morey but to him, it's all numbers, his people skills just don't cut it. What's so hard to just treat players with dignity, but still do your correct business decisions.

This is completely different from McGrady case, not close to the same level. And Lin isn't stupid, he knows he's out for sure when he post the twitter. Rockets burned the bridge with him first. Lowry, Gogi, they aint coming back unless they had to. Which ex-Rockets in recent years still maintain good relations with the organization? Only person popped up in my head is Brooks.

And at this point, we still don't recognize that's an issue?

I'm sorry, 2 tweets are so much bigger than 1 tweet, all that 140 characters difference!

Morey did freaking 6 tweets to talk about it, and said as no GM has said openly before that specific players have to be traded to sign a certain player.

How is it that Lin's actions on Twitter were unprofessional? Who tells you that "turning the other cheek" is in conflict with expressing his feelings about being disrespected? Even Jesus and apostle Paul defended themselves when people slapped them. Go read John 18:22-23 and Act 23:2-3 if you have a Bible.

If Carmelo isn't going to sit in Lin's cubicle, then he shouldn't have the number 7 on his jersey. Got it??

Lin is not only in a cubicle, but his stuff has been boxed up and security has been called to escort him to the front door. That number is no longer his.

Was it Morey who tweeted or just a reporter tweeting out his answer to questions about the situation?

And I fail to understand what the big deal is about stating the obvious. The ONLY way to bring in a big fish without shipping out foundational pieces is shipping out Lin. He knew it, his agent knew it, we knew it, everyone freaking knew it. Just because him and Melo have a history doesn't all of a sudden change this either in my view. Two totally unrelated situations, purely coincidence.

How is it that posters still don't understand the situation? Lin isn't mad about Melo taking #7. He's mad because he felt disrespected that Rockets' marketing team shopped Melo in a jersey with Lin's number WHILE LIN IS STILL ON THE TEAM.

I thought that, by page 19, people would naturally come to that conclusion. Apparently not.

If Lin isn't traded, I hope Morey takes #7 from Lin and gives it to Canaan.

You know what? Nvm. Not in the mood to argue over something that is a matter of opinion, at the end of the day.

Lin's unprofessional because a professional would understand that someone in his position shouldn't be standing in the way of his team while they are trying to bring in someone like Carmelo.

I think this sounds more reasonable than speculating that it's a calculated marketing move on Lin's part. If it was really a calculated move, the calculation was extremely poor. It didn't make him look good at all.

It is of course possible. But I just can't believe he and his agent are so dumb.

Like one poster pointed out, conspiracy theory from Lin fans aroused conspiracy theory from his detractors. Interesting.

I doubt Lin's tweet has an effect on Melo's decision one way or another. This is hardly "standing in the team's way." Melo will choose what's best for his life.

I first posited the theory in this thread, and I am not a Lin detractor. As I said, he's always seemed like a genuinely good guy to me, and I don't doubt his religious conviction. But he is a brand, and I simply think it's naive to think he & his brand are not carefully and painstakingly managed.

And my opinion isn't specific to Lin. There's a reason why Harden is 10000x more likely to post "All glory to God!" after a big game than, "Finna get on these big booty strippers!" Not saying he doesn't mean the former, but come on.
