Yeah, just like that Asik guy, asking to be traded the first day he was put on the bench. I mean he didn't even put up a fight. What's up with that guy. So mentally weak

I'd be jumping for joy if we could get a reverse-protected first round pick while Lin fakes an injury and watches games on the bench.

No wait, I meant his playoff ****ups that cost games this year and last.

Yes. I agree with you. Maybe he could have done it better. From Rockets perspective, Lin should have kept quiet, but it's not like they gave any effort to prevent this from happening. PR messed it up. That Lin calculated this stuff is just a really far stretch. He could have done it when he was forced to a spot up shooter next to Harden, he could have done it when he lost the starting job to Bev, but everything he said about his coach and teammates was great. If you keep on pushing the Mr. Nice guy, someday he will eventually explode.

You understand Asik would worth more if he didn't ask to be traded? And it would even be harder for us to trade Lin if Lin asked to be traded?

I'm comparing how Asik and Lin's response to the team decisions, not their value. I perfectly understand Lin not worth Asik's value.

My point was just because a player is unhappy with team's decisions, and they complain about it, doesn't make them weak. To me, Lin has done better handling it than Asik and Dmo.

    Should've exploded on-court a few more times.

Yeah, would have helped us more.

Dude is great off court, but on court he is just too inconsistent.

Not just could have done it better. Should have done it better by not doing it at all.

It was in everyone's interests that Lin maintain his professionalism and just let this extremely common thing slide. From Lin's perspective he should have shut up. Not just the Rockets. Dude just finally snapped/screwed up is all. His desire to strike back at the Rockets/McHale/Morey/whoever was stronger than his desire to maintain his public image. But I understand this was the straw that broke the camel's back (though it makes him look far too sensitive).

And I don't put it past Lin and his team -- given the documentary, the marketing tours and contracts, etc. -- to have calculated a public stance with his impending departure appearing to arrive. Dude makes too many perfect moves to build on his fan base for this not to be in line with his past behavior.

Face it: this is being seen as whining by more than just Rocket fans. Lin is not a star. Scrubs don't get to whine.

If it were nothing, Morey wouldn't have come out to paint it as standard business practice. If it were nothing, Clutch wouldn't have to deliver this piece to focus on the stretch to link past completely different scenarios, and started the witch-hunting on Lin.

According to Lin's agents, Lin was NOT PRE-INFORMED. Morey didn't say otherwise, nor did Rockets FO. It's very unprofessional to say the least. All I know is, if I request a broker to sell my house, he would still inform me that he will bring someone to show my house at certain time. All it takes is a simple phone call, or a text message, for otherwise extremely internet friendly people, but no, no one bothered. Of course Lin is unwanted here after Morey's genius poison pill, but a little bit decency and professionalism never hurt.

Lin was told about this over the Internet, he tweeted about his displeasure. All hell has broken - how dare you a scrub to talk about respect? What a wuss to be passive-aggressive to tweet Bible verses, never mind he praises God and cites Bible all the time.

No matter how much the so-called team only people want Lin gone, no matter how much the winning only GM wants to exchange Lin for cap space, Lin is still under contract, and yet to find a taker. Acting like big shot multi-billionaire on Internet doesn't give you a free pass to ignore common decent manner.

Now this, Instead of simply admitting poorly handled situation due to negligence, Clutch started personal attacks to accuse Lin of calculated move.

It's been getting uglier every single day here, what a reality show.

Thank you. I know you are one of those folks who hate Lin's game a lot, but I have to applaud your courage for speaking the truth: Rockets FO considers its players nothing but a bunch of numbers, math and assets. They are not human.

As a FA,Melo really can't care less Lin's feeling, but he has to wonder if he chooses Rox, what if some day he becomes expendable, what kind of crap will happen when Rox tries to dump him?

I feel for him on the court because he seems to have really good instincts for offensive flow. He just seemed to become really hesitant and doubtful on the court. Especially, when having to deal with teammates who also need/demand/require the ball -- those who don't/shouldn't wait for him to finish dribbling all over the court, probing the defense before passing.

It might be that he was a perfect match for D'Antoni's system, but not for a system such as what the Rockets are running.

His only problem is that he wants to stay while Morey is trying to dump him around like a piece of meat (or worse).

That sentimentality makes him weak because he should be looking ahead rather than dwelling on the spoiled grapes happening during the media circus.

The same media circus that just spent cycles on him and his agent instead of his team.

As for it being a "calculated effort", I don't think Jeremy turned the other cheek. The expected response was to generate sympathy against his "abuser", and he's got that in spades.

    A) if he already knew he's gone for sure, is that the proper way to say good bye?

    B) if he wants to stay and wants to do something "McGrady-esque", is that the proper way to shape the image of your team?

Like Asik or Dmo, he didn't act like a pro. It's more like a bizarre meltdown we've already seen on the court.

Attacking someone's motives is always easier than judging people's action, because a. You can never prove either way about that intention thing, b. You can always find willing believers to support you "finding".

Lin's actions on Twitter were unprofessional. They were actions no other player is on record as having taken while their team was recruiting a major free agent.

Lin explicitly claimed his motive was to "turn the other cheek" while standing up to himself against disrespect. Yeah, makes sense....

I attack both his actions and his delivered rationale. Both are within bounds as he brought them into the discussion. Tweet nothing, like every other scrub does, and there is no story here.

You've found the crux of the problem.

To Lin's fans, he's not only a star, he's a SUPERstar. His Linsanity period convinced them that he's capable of putting up numbers like that on a regular basis, on pretty much any team and in almost any system.

To everyone else, including most NBA GMs, coaches and players, he's a decent player with some glaring holes in his game (not unlike a lot of other players, TBH). Some of them think he might be a starter in the right situation and could even be an All-Star playing under the right coach, like D'Antoni. Most, though, see him as a borderline starter/very good backup.

The overwhelming majority of Lin's fans are living in a dream world in which their golden boy will one day dominate again and they're tired of other people blocking his path to greatness. So something like this jersey number thing isn't just a slap in Lin's face, it's the REAL NBA telling them that their guy just doesn't matter that much in the big scheme of things. That's got to be a hard thing to take in.

Further proved this isn't a calculated move. As I said, if it is calculated move, he could have done better.

Also, if Lin is a scrub and he doesn't get to whine, why did Morey come out and clear the issue? What did Clutch have to write an article about this? One twitter from Lin now is whining, really? How biased can you be?

Scrubs tweet too, they complain as well, just no one cares. When fans care, the media is all over it, your GM has to come out and clarify, Clutch has to write an article, then you know he's not a scrub.

Never judge Lin's on court influence with his off court influence. Rockets organization misjudged. That's all.

The Rockets FO should have informed Lin ahead of time, if they did no way Lin would have said or tweeted anything. If you wanna use the number fine (although I don't think making posters of 'Melo all over the Toyota Center is going to be the lynchpin for him coming to Houston), but when you already have a player on the roster wearing that number? WITHOUT telling him? This could have been solved with an email or text and then there is no story. However, now the Rockets organization look like they can't even take care of their own. Just wasn't a good look.

Speaking of professionalism, you completely ignored the fact that this fiasco was caused by unprofessionalism from the organization, without informing him. I have yet to find one single example from many "standard business practice" supporters to reference how players' numbers were used without notification in the past.

Now you set a high bar on Lin, just like many have done in the past, despite all kinds of vicious attacks he has received online in the past, some crazy Lin fans said something wrong would be used here to open thread to attack Lin. This again, mis-handling by Rockets, is used to against Lin to scrutinize his REACTION.

The issue was brought to Morey. The media, looking for a story, directly asked him and Morey obliged, as he usually does.

If anything, Morey talks too much in the media. Might have been better to just say, "This is standard practice. No comment. This is an internal, family issue."

And it was 2, 2 Tweets that constitute Lin's whining. Yes, how biased can one be? Since Lin signed with this team, I have come to see no limits to the answer to that question.

You guys continue on: Lin got his feelings hurt and he loves strawberry fraps ....
