As Carmelo Anthony leans toward leaving New York, Chicago and Houston emerge as frontrunners

The radio in Chicago is saying something very similar, that Anthony will tell teams by Sunday where he will go.

The difference is that the mood in Chicago is that Anthony is a done deal and that is why the Bulls are also in California beyond Gasol.

 

Ha, funny thing, I spent this time last summer with my wife in Costa Rica. Not a city mind you, but in the jungle with very little or at least very slow internet access waiting to find out if we were getting Howard. Kept excusing myself or slipping away to go check, like every half hour or so. I knew she was going to get pissed and knew what I was up to, but the lure was too much not to keep checking. She got over it pretty fast, but depending on how 'understanding' your lady is about that kind of crap, I would tread lightly my friend.

The Bulls are in California meeting with Gasol today.

Carmello Anthony is in California today as well.

There are media members in Chicago saying it isn't coincidence, that the Bulls are meeting with Anthony again to present him with a stronger offer and get him to agree to sign with Chicago.

 

I believe he's saying they are in LA because that is where Melo is as well.

Melo is easily worth $20M a year, Lebron just happens to be worth $40M. Melo is far from inefficient and there's a reason why multiple teams are chasing after him. I don't think you can replace him with $20M in role players. In terms of this offeason alone, Avery Bradley and Gortat have already gotten $20M/yr combined. Melo is better than a combination of those two.
