Well, what do you expect? See, he was disrespected by Morey when the Rockets brought in a better player. That's disrespectful.
I can't quote from Twitter at work, but Omer Asik posted this Biblical verse last night on his account: ----------------------------------------------------- Ezekiel 25:17. "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and fuuuuuurious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!" OmerAsik3 ----------------------------------------------------- But then he posted this five minutes later: ----------------------------------------------------- Ha Ha Ha, I am kidding, I not want to stay. This last season I feel like I was sold to Gypsy camp. Better hurricanes in New Orleans than "drought" (d-r-o-u-g-h-t? that is correct?) in Houston, if you know what I mean. You understand? Is metaphor. YES! Free! -----------------------------------------------------
Asik's been demanding to be traded for a year now. I'm sure he's happy to see his number given to someone else. Not really comparable at all.
Totally comparable. He's still here and they are acting like he isn't. The only difference is we know the details of the Asik trade, but it's no more official than whatever they have lined up for Lin. One could argue that Lin knows he'll be traded, so he shouldnt be surprised. In fact, Alex Kennedy tweeted a day ago that he spoke to Lin the night before and Lin said he was good and so used to the trade rumors that he jokes about them. Whether you want to go or not, if the number and roster spot one is currently holding is that sacred, then taking both away prematurely should be a problem, period. If people have a problem with how they treated Lin' s situation, then they should have a problem with Asik's.
obviously nobody cares about omer and nick johnson is a nobody right now. lin/melo have history and bring more media attention. im surprised that people are surprised that this became a story. when you got a group of people saying its disrespectful and then another group saying its not a big deal, then you mix them together, youre going to get a **** storm. if you don't like that this turned into a story or "issue" of some sorts, stop contributing to the hoopla by doing your own b****ing. Thats just going to make it worst. Its not a big deal, yet people want to keep cluttering the forum to make their points. Of course its a story now. We're in the midst of landing another star and all yall want to do is b**** towards each other about a non-issue. Wish there was an easier way to read twitter updates than to have to sift through this pissing contest.
This is not about someone that is about to be traded. It's not even about that. It's about why did you do this to someone that is still employed? In any business...you DON'T DO THIS...PERIOD!!
Asik has stated multiple times that he wants to be traded, whereas Lin has never demanded a trade. How are their situations "totally comparable"? Asik couldn't care less if another player gets his number because he knows he's already played his last game as a Rocket. However, in Lin's case, it's possible that he doesn't get traded in the event that the Rockets can't land one of their FA targets.
