Which I can believe, although everyone has to go through all this chasing after Melo (and maybe each of the Heatles as well, if things go south in Miami). In truth, Love would be the perfect fit for the team; but maybe acquiring him would cost what we don't want to yield, and so we go after the UFA first.
Don't expect to hear anything until Sunday at the earliest. Unlike last year there are a couple big free agents and you also have the LeBron situation.
If something happens, it will have to be a Love (or Rondo?) trade. No way any of the free agents we're going after make their decisions by then. Melo's going back to NY first and Morey still haven't met with Lebron's agent yet.
That makes sense to me. We prefer Melo, not because he's the best option, but because he's the best option for the cost.
I don't see this offseason being too kind to the Rockets it maybe a smarter move to swung a trade for a third star or a sign and trade for Lance and another piece.

Im not buying it.... Melo to Houston is gonna happen. I have very little doubt. Heck from what i have been reading, LBJ might even be a possibility now because of the money.
Should be interesting to see what happens. If none of these guys sign it wouldn't surprise me but it would be telling because Doc was steadfast in no LBJ no Lowry no Melo and he continued on with Love. The indicators are that Love may be on the way. That Shaun guy mentioned league approval paperwork. McHale was on his way to Minnesota and that might make sense because he lives there but he also could be spending time with Flip and Love to try and discuss things further in person.
