So, if Morey strikes out on LeBron/Bosh (likely), Melo, and Lowry(already chose to resign with TOR)-

I'd be totally ok with Hill, Deng, and a veteran PG. If we strike out on Love / Bosh, Hill would actually be a high priority, we have no back up C or starting quality PF at the moment....

Why would you bank on anything at all at this point? There is WAY too much uncertainty, way too many things that could happen.

I'd love to bank on Love, but the fact is that GS has a good play and there's nothing at all stopping MN from holding off until the trade deadline.

In the meantime there are a good number of 2nd and 3rd tier FAs that will be available after the big FAs decide where they want to live for the next few years. Some of them would be of immense help to the Rox.

I am not going to bank on anyone because there are too many possibilities at this point, and Love is not at the top pf the probability wagon.

Rockets better go for some bench guys now.

A backup PG to replace Lin
A backup C to replace Asik
A backup SF who can defend behind Parsons

Just trade for Love after (I don't think he has any real suitors if Curry wants Thompson too stay)

    Spencer Hawes/Jordan Hill
    P.J. Tucker/Thabo Sefolosha
    PG ???

Morey will extend McHale for 5 more years.

'We've got our 3rd star right here! McHale is walking through that door.'

I "bank" because the Rockets haven't accumulated all these assets for nothing and because Golden State's offer is massively overrated.

David Lee is the worst possible fit next to Pekovic on earth, and his bloated contract lasts through the 2015/2016 season.

Klay Thompson is a good player....no doubt. Not an elite player, but a good player. Somewhere in the same realm as Parsons. He's also going to be a RFA one year from now.....so he's going to get paid. I'd also mention that Minnesota has TONS of wing players on MLE contracts. They can't offload all of those guys to GSW, so you're talking about massive over investment at your 2/3 slots. It only makes sense if you think Thompson will be a star...it doesn't work if he's just Kevin Martin with defense.

Their pick (and they can only trade one pick) is roughly equivalent to the Rockets pick in 2015.

That's not a good value trade for Minnesota. It's narrowly focused and relies on Thompson to become an elite player.

My suggested trade nets them the following:

    1) Ryan Anderson - Kevin Love Jr. on a much cheaper deal.
    2) NOP Double protected 2015 1st round pick pick - Perhaps the best pick currently on the market.
    3) Sergio Llull - Rubio's national teammate
    4) TJones - A young but proven player. Brings athleticism to their front court.
    5) Rockets 2015 1st round pick
    6) Rockets take back a few players using a TPE from a Lin trade, which allows Minnesota to make a run at Gasol, who they've long been rumored to want. GSW is limited on this front because they're bumping up against the apron now.

Those putting their hopes that the Rockets can get Klove are going to be very disappointed.

I wouldnt bother responding to his post, he thinks the Pelicans is going to give trade Ryan Andersen AND their 2015 pick for Omer Asik.

They may not land Love, but it is likely the next thing that they will try in the absence of an elite player joining via free agency.

The remaining free agents, if the top 4 targets listed in the OP are removed, are not on Love's level so if you can't pursue a free agent straight up, you have to be willing to pay the price to trade for one such as Love.

Yup. At that point we are doomed, so we're just going to flip Harden and Dwight for picks and then sign Lin to a supermax contract.

    Jesus, take the wheel!

    1. Kevin Love
    2. Rajon Rondo
    3. Eric Bledsoe - Max offer sheet (if nothing else, to hurt Phoenix flexibility moving forward; do they really want 2 max guards next year?)
    4. 3&D Wing: Ariza, Deng, Tucker, Marion, etc.
    5. Isaiah Thomas
    6. Trade for second tier PF: Millsap, Ilyasova, Horford (longshot), etc.
    7. Spencer Hawes

    My priorities would be

    0. Trade for Love... ain't happening as long as Parsons is here
    1. Trade for Rondo... maybe 20% chance?
    2. Think about Stephenson... Not sure what the Rockets think of him though
    3. Taking on massive amount of bad contracts for nothing to add depth.
Examples: Ilyasova, Delfino, Pachulia from the Bucks who are rebuilding. Hayes, Patterson, Amir Johnson from Raptors who have too much depth at PF. Players like these, but LOTS OF them so we can go 10-deep to keep Dwight/Harden healthy. Also want to bring Llul/Papas over with the MLE. Prefer Llul though because he seems to have higher upside.
