    From Mark Berman:
Rockets GM Daryl Morey on Carmelo Anthony: "We're excited at the chance he might choose us."

i don't know. I feel that rose is at where mcgrady was at back in 09. He is not feeling right but is in denial of it. such a shame. the obvious choice would be houston for carmelo. But I cringe at the thought of adding one more player that can't get on the same page of the book our coach is reading. Howard is over there reading comics, harden has his vintage hustler magazines and now enter carmelo.

    More Berman:

Rockets GM Daryl Morey: "Obviously, it's up 2Carmelo Anthony, what he thinks. We put our best foot forward just like we did w/Dwight Howard"

Daryl Morey on Carmelo: "We feel good that he's got the information he needs. He's got 2make the best decision for himself, but I think(more)

More Daryl Morey on Carmelo: "..if he looks at the best combination of chance 2win & city &community,I don't think it's a hard choice"(more)

Why the hell so you guys want melo? More iso's? The only reason he fit houstons is cause he doesn't play defence

Honestly, I've been pretty indifferent as to whether Melo joins us or not. As many already said, Melo needs us more than we need him. If he feels like he has a better chance playing with question mark DRose and Noah, then more power to him.

That's the difference between Woj and ESPN. Woj doesn't pretend like he has the definitive answer. He reports the ebbs and flows of a player's decision, but not state them in an absolute manner.

What he said is all logical, but it helps that he's confirming what we've all been thinking but not certain about.

    1. Houston's clearly pitching Melo on the team's overall HEALTHY talent.
    2. Melo has concerns about Rose's health.
    3. Melo still does want to be in NY.
    4. Melo would prefer Chicago to Houston, all things equal(meaning Rose's health).

I don't think he said anything earth shattering. Other than the fact that Melo is weighting all the factors. Melo wants NY the city. He prefers Chicago if he cannot stay in NY. But he is still uncertain about the team.

The Rockets right now are clearly 3rd in his mind. But the good news is, the top 2 both have serious issues. We are the "safe" pick.

The thing is, not having Melo doesn't change the flaws in Harden and Howard's attitude/game. Our flaws were clearly evident last year without Melo, and simply adding role players don't cover up those flaws.

Morey's method of overcoming Harden/Howard's flaws is clearly to add so much talent that it stop mattering. Overwhelming talent is still a good bet when it comes to winning titles.

Still can't understand how some people don't want to add a Top 15 player. I'm willing to take the risk of how good they all fit. Just get the most talented team you can and figure it out later.

He played REALLY well in the 2012 Olympics. This doesn't mean much, but it does at least give you a glimpse what he can do with other superstar teammates.

The Spurs defense is really good... but they won as much because of offense as anything.

Offense and defense are related. Want to see what happens to the other teams best players when they are forced to defend or not. See Blazers vs. Rockets, then Blazers vs. Spurs.

If you score more than your opponent you win.

Everyone agrees Lebron James would be better. He's not really available.

So is there going to be a "I STILL don't understand why you guys want Melo so bad" post on every page of this thread for the next few days or...?

What's with the "Why do you all want Melo, more iso's?" comments or "why add another scorer when our problem is our defense?".

Look at that Knicks team, they needed him to play the way he played. They just had no other reliable options. If he joins the Rockets, you will see how versatile and elite he is on offense. He doesn't need nor likely play as much iso's as he had to in NY.

He will get a ton of easy open looks playing alongside Howard and Harden and we will all witness how unselfish he can be playing on a team with 2 other legit all stars. He never had this in NY or even Denver. So, if you're looking for the best sample size, it's his time with team USA.

You can't just roll a ball onto the court and win a championship. Even if Melo signs with Houston can Milk Hair make adjustments to double team a player that is killing the Rockets in a seven game series? As long as Milk Hair pretends to write Xs and Os on a clipboard the Rockets don't seem to have much of a chance.

This is just my thinking here, but if Woj actually got news of the Melo situation, he'd tweet it and possible write an article about it. He's required to be on FS1 for the time being, so he's gonna have to have something to say on the big topics, even if there's no new info from his sources.

I mean, when was the last time Woj didn't tweet useful info?

If you think it's bad here, you should check out the opionions on the Mavs/Bulls/Lakers boards.

It's funny that Cuban would make his meeting with Melo "all basketball" since the worst part of his pitch would be the actual basketball part.
