No, if Melo really was the one that chase Lin out of NY, this will only give Melo more satisfaction to join the Rockets and stroke his giant ego.
I have and will always bleed Houston Rocket red forever. However, I am pissed off at the organization on how they have handled this situation. Using #7 is understandable to lure Melo but if Morey didn't speak to Jeremy about it first beforehand then that is just bull*****. It's like firing an employee and not telling him. Instead, the employee finds out when his badge doesn't work anymore. Stay classy Houston Rockets.
While unappreciated get ignored as they prepare to leave is disrespectful. As real_egal and I talked about, it is all about timing. If Lin is informed he would be traded if Melo joins, or at least he is informed about the poster, it is perfectly fine, but ignoring him was disrespectful.
I doubt this has anything to do with Lin dislikes Carmelo. If they put #7 out there for Lebron...it would have created the same situation.
Next time make sure to include the context of my replies (one was a question asked of me). Thanks for playing though little fella'
All FAs in the market know what HOU did to their current player now. Will this make HOU more attractive? It's not a necessary move. HOU didn't do that to Beverley last season. They did hide Beverley's number in Howard jersey.
In this thread the only ones making a big stink are the usual suspects: 1) the lof 2) the Morey haters 3) the trolls.
It is NOTHING like that. Using his number is a marketing act because it is also Melo's number. Lin is not getting fired. Lin is getting traded. In our world, we call it transferred. This is standard practice and Morey has no obligation to as Lin for permission to use a number that he ultimately carries with him to his next team. If Lin was staying, this would be a different story.
Melo blames Lin's fans for being tagged with a "selfish" label. It's a calculated move by Morey. Props to Morey.
I wish I could make millions to feel sorry for myself. In all seriousness, could it have been handled better...sure. Is it as big of a deal as ESPN is trying to make it out to be? No. Lin knew what was coming when Asik was traded. He's not dumb.
Now what would have been worse would to have put Lowry's picture up there with a number 7 on it...that would have caused chaos.
I've been pretty indifferent to Lin being on this team. But Jesus Christ am I ready for him to go now.
I don't remember Luifa going on to Twitter to have a cry about it. Now that is real classy player. None of this fake public personas.

More Daryl Morey: ".. it's standard practice. When we went after Chris Bosh a few years ago,we had him N Luis)Scola's number.
