The tweet says its a response to a rising concern THEY (meaning Chicago) can't get him to leave the NYK. Doesn't mean other teams can't...

Melo isn't leaving behind $60million. His wife also probably makes another $10m and Melo has more endorsement potential in NYC. This tour is just to make sure that Phil Jackson pays him the max, which he's now indicated he will.

Does he really want to be a loser the rest of his career just to hang out in NY?

Maybe he's fine with having the extra monies and hoping Phil gets him the help he needs.

Especially when he's spending 41 games on the road and can live anywhere he wants in the offseason. It's not like he (or his wife) has to completely relocate. And new york's big and diverse enough that he could betray the Knicks and not have to flee town or something.

I don't know staying in NYC means Melo is going to be a loser. Its not a bad situation with the management reshuffle and playing in NYC is one of the best places to play. Yeah HOuston got the better team, but could they manage it correctly?

Playing in NYC is one of the best places to play because you get to play against the Knicks who are almost always a joke.

New York is at least 2 or 3 years away from even remotely being considered a title contending team, and that assumes Phil Jackson makes all the right moves. It most certainly is a bad situation, basketball-wise. Melo doesn't have that kind of time if he really believes his top priority is winning. If he goes back, then he clearly is not about winning first and foremost.

At the same time, MSG in NYC is still the best arena to play basketball. Even when the Knicks have had bad teams, MSG was still an electric place to play in. I hope he goes to the ROckets and think its the right basketball move, but i do question Houston's ability to manage its talent as well as Phil Jackson. That's what i would be thinking about.

For 95% of the players it's about the money. Can't blame Melo if he stays in NY. Many of us would do the same.

I really don't get the cult of Phil Jackson, he fell into some amazing teams and is a good camp counselor, but he didn't build any of those teams.

If you think Melo living in NYC with an extra $60million plus endorsements, plus opportunities for his wife, and all the connections there, makes him a loser .... LOL YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WINNING AT LIFE. Enjoy hanging out with the pity party that follows Jeremy Lin everywhere he goes. "Waaaaa, they're no disrespectful to Lin." "Waaaa, why won't they start him." Lin is a b****.

He may have not built them, but he managed them and their egos, which very few coaches can do on a consistent basis. He's an intelligent guy whose knowledge goes beyond basketball.

C'mon work with me here kid, every single player in the NBA is in the top 1% of wage earners in America, none of them are losers in life so clearly that wasn't what I was talking about.

If Lebron takes a one year deal w Miami (or a deal with a termination option after one year), good chance he heads to NY if melo is there. Watch for lebrons deal as an indicator of whether melo returns to NY. It's one year of suckage, then Lebron.

Not for older players. Its more about legacy. Lebron ran to a big 3 and was reviled...3 years later he was known as the best player in the league and a winner.

Funny how winning fixes your legacy. Money doesn't.

Dolan also likes to meddle and mess things up.

So Phil could be doing a good job but Dolan is STILL around.

If he wants to win, he'd be a fool to go there. He'd have a better shot at winning in Dallas.
