Actually, salary is most certainly brought up and discussed in detail in these discussions. The Rockets most certainly brought up different proposals. Different salaries depending on other moves and stuff.

So you didn't even live in Houston, much less the nice parts (e.g., River Oaks, Memorial, West University, etc...).

    Gotcha.

I did for 23 years. Not much can top the Woodland/Kingwood area(at least in some parts).

Aside from the extremely rich, everyone wants to live in the Woodlands

I don't think it means that. If they present their first offer, and it is less than what Carmelo wants, they can look at other options (for example, trading Taj Gibson).

Chicago does seem to have a harder time to create the cap space they would need. If Carmelo told them that he only wanted a certain salary, would the trades that were required for Chicago make the team less attractive to him and less likely to compete for championships in his mind?

That might be the worst thing I've ever witnessed. Like worse than the stabbing of a family number.

Yes it can. I lived in the Woodlands for 18 years and after college relocated to central Houston. I would choose any of the upper echelon areas of Houston over the Woodlands. Melo is someone who can afford the nicest home in River Oaks if he wanted to. Woodlands is too isolated to be consideredHouston.

My guy says Chicago but honestly I'd bet anything Moreys pitch included lowry as well as the current core. More money than the Bulls more talent than ANY team how could Melo say no to Houston if "winning is the most important factor."

You know, discussing River Oaks/Memoral/etc. is kind of pointless given how most NBA players in Houston prefer to live further out, like in Sugarland. Melo didn't exactly grew up in a rich home and going to private schools. Since then he's lived in Denver and NY. He probably has a much different view on what's a nice place to live than most of us.
