Before to me it was almost sorta a little debatable on whether the Rockets were the clear cut favorites for Melo considering all factors (money, city, winning)

But now with the Bulls 15 mill pay cut thing and how terrible the Knicks are, its just hard to believe Melo wouldn't choose the rockets, but at the same time my gut still says he's not likely to sign here.

Knicks - waste the rest of his career
Bulls - gamble on Rose and take BIG paycut
Rockets - take a small pay cut, guaranteed multiple championships

And I cant even take Dallas as a serious suitor.

I lived in some of the nicer parts of Houston and I can flat out admit that Dallas is a much better place to grow up in.

That place is suited for the wealthy.

my gf in high school lived in Southlake. I think Sandra Bullock's compound was along the way to her place, but I could be pulling that out of my ass. It was a nice area, but I just have never liked the feel of Dallas. I'll take Memorial or West U areas any day.

Private talk with Harden and Dwight? I like that!

Still think he's going to Chicago though...

Apparently Chicago low balled Melo and offered him $15m/yr

I doubt they would discuss salary in those meetings.

I've been lucky enough to live in the Kingwood/Woodlands area, as well as Highland Park. I don't think it was even close. Dallas teams suck, but I won't deny that there city is pretty awesome.

    Err why?

Houston offers more money, more talent on the roster, doesn't have an injury prone star, owner willing to spend (Bulls owner I believe has rarely ever paid luxury tax even through Jordan era), etc.

Only disadvantages is the conferences and coaching

Really? Wouldn't that be one of the most important factors and first questions he'd ask?

Quite possibly they tried to close him at the business table with a contract.

    Not a reach.

It is never good in sales to just simply let them walk out the door without a commitment.

My gut reaction still says that he is going to Chicago as well.

Actually, that is either my gut telling me that or the media with all of their "sources" saying that.

Love is on the market NOW
    Aldridge just we upped

So the PLAN is Gasol . . who might be playing with his brother if Memphis can get a good pitch in . . . ..

I cannot say Dallas has the best plan for the future

My belief is that the conference and coaching is one of the biggest factors for him. Don't get me wrong though, I would LOVE to be incorrect on this one.

Actually,if the rumors are true about Chicago's offer, I think they just fell out of the running. Likely now between Houston, LA, and New York, with the Knicks having the clear advantage on the $ and comfort level for his family.

Houston's the clear winner if he means what he says about winning being his #1 priority.

If I had to bet though, he'll stay with the Knicks for the max and put his faith in the Zen master to get this thing turned around...quickly.

I really don't think being in the East is that good of a thing, if you go to a less talented team just because they are in the joke of an Eastern conference, who do you think you have to play if you ever want to win a championship? Is the goal to play a ton of extra basketball just to maybe come in 2nd?
