Houston pre-informed Jeremy Lin of the use of his No. 7 on 'Melo recruiting images, source tells Yahoo Sports.

What difference does all that make... Lin is probably gone rather we get a big free agent or not. He's already been replaced by Nick.

This is so stupid. Not sure why it even matters so much. Woj, go find some real insider info and report back.

How much cash would Morey have to include to make up for the LOFs?

Lin should sue... team up with Donald Sterling and sue the Rockets and NBA for discrimination and defamation of character.

It makes a difference because it allows the Rockets to trade for other players with Lin and maintain our MLE.

I hope Melo does come because theres no way Lin is going to stay now that Asik and Parsons are out the door. Hope the Rockets big 3 show how a team of superstars with a subpar bench and lack of teamwork will never win a ring.

Your post is a very good one. I have nothing against Lin at all, I feel very disturbed by the glee of good riddance by some posters.
His performance in the playoffs was respectable, despite some noticeable errors.
He is a good role player. I do feel that trading him for cap room, in order to have a chance in obtaining Carmelo is in the interest of our team.

    Because pack mentality rules.

You say something about the irrational hate, you are then a Lin Only Fan.

Actually, Lin had no other offers other than from the Rockets.

Initial offer was for $19M. Lin said, I'll think it over.
    Then was upped to $25M.

But in the end, if Lin gets traded, then the Rockets only paid
$5M a year for him for 2 years.

Which I think is slightly below market value. NBA market value that is.

Carmelo is not the best fit, but he is worth the gamble. If it doesn't work, he will have good trade value around the league for players that may benefit the Rockets. The Rockets can also re-sign Parsons if they have cap room for a big FA signing. They can also do a sign and trade with Parsons to a team of his choice as well.

I do like Lin, but we just aren't strong enough. The interests of the Rockets come first, before any individual player.
