As for the join dates and those complaining, (1) it's because a lot of people joined the board due to Lin's popularity, not necessarily because they are Asian; but (2) I challenge your assertion that "most complaining" have post-2012 join dates.

First, I've done this exercise before, but not in this thread obviously. Someone claims it is all LOFs and those who just joined complaining...count the users/comments/dates and bam, nope. Not so. Pretty even split (again, was for another thread, not this one). Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case again here. Second, you then have to look at the make-up of people who are on the other side of the argument and whether they are post-2012ers or not. Such an exercise would be for the last 15 pages or so, of course, not the whole thread. Whenever the Lin stuff first came up.

Starting to believe Melo isn't coming to Houston... but staying in NY...

Which means getting Lowry is our only hope... which also means... without Lowry... we don't get Love or someone of that caliber.

I hope McHale is going to have a talk with Love in Minny.

 

I know some will get on me for this (and you can conclude which group I'm talking about) but I got the YOFs because Yao was great/all-star. What I don't get is the allegiance Lin has ...is it because of that small sample size during Linsanity? Is it because he's a devout Christian?

 

We're like two ships passing in the night on this one. I'm not going to bother to clarify; it was my mistake for answering that post with a two-pronged response. It was unnecessarily misleading and really just argumentative. I'll just say that I do not disagree with your conclusion on this one statement, about the media/ESPN sensationalizing it more because this is Lin (versus some other player like Bev or TJones).

Have you guys ever played sports? Your Jersey Number is a big deal....People in the NFL pay big bucks for Jersey Numbers.

If you can't relate, imagine it's like your job interviewing people while you are still employed by them and showing them your office while you're out to lunch...And then coming back and hearing the whispers around the office how the company wants to get rid of you for the new hot shot and they had him in your office sitting in your chair.

I mean...I don't care about Lin's feelings about this. He's rich. People have bigger problems. He'll be ok. But I can certainly understand why he'd feel some type of way about all this.

 

I'd be worried about not getting a too FA this summer if we hadn't just won 54 games this past season. Even if we don't sign anyone we are only getting better.

 

That's a pretty heated accusation that has absolutely no merit based on anything I've said. I never once made any sort of claims of hatred of Asian people, heck even dislike of Asian people.

Bigotry requires dislike/hatred/discrimination against a race, something I have had no part in.
