He can't get mad about his team marketing someone else in his jersey? It's a serious slap in the face. If he were an RFA or an UFA, it'd be the same dick move by marketing if they shipped someone in jersey. It's not about the possibility of being traded - it's about pretty much being replaced while you're still on the team.
It's Carmelo's number. He's always worn it. They didn't do it to insult Lin. Regardless, it's a business. Get over it.
No you don't. I want you to explain why Les, right after losing Yao for good, would be willing to cut the only Asian player in the league to keep from wasting 3M dollars. PLEASE TEACH ME! And this thread is nowhere near as exciting as it should be. I said this earlier, but last year spoiled me. There were days where all I did was lay in my underwear refreshing that thread.
God forbid the Rockets chased after LeBron and put him in Terrence Jones jersey. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?! Constant disrespect from Morey. Always treating players like assets and not human beings. These guys have feelings too, doesn't he know? Obviously not. Making these guys play in the D-League and constantly up and down, up and down. Photoshopping free agents into current players numbers Making restricted free agents go out and get an offer (while leaking that their may be some type of injury) Spoiler LOL Is this really a headline story? No seriously, this is really a story?
They did the same thing with Beverley's number 12 last season in the pursuit of Howard, and Bev actually spoke up about it while it was happeing -- to say he was totally cool with it, that Howard could have his number for free, that he would wear any number, he just wanted to play on a team with a chance to win a title. Lin...well, Lin didn't go that route. Lin got upset and then hid his emotions behind the bible.
Yup. It's not exactly the same as getting Dwight did not necessitate trading Bev. Even if he weren't wearing that number, our interest in Melo means we want to dump Lin.
There's also the prior beef between Melo and Lin from when Lin left NYK (or at least, the media would have us believe there's beef there).
lol you didn't even know he used to wear #15 for the Nuggets. What's the point of even photoshopping someone into someone else's jersey, anyway? I can understand if regular fans like us on CF do it, but to do that professionally? Let's say Melo doesn't end up signing with us, and we keep Lin. That really won't make it awkward? and LOL @ "It's a business, get over it." If it's obvious your company is on the fence about firing you, and they hold interviews for your job, you wouldn't find that disrespectful? It's so easy to sit behind a computer and say "get over it," but come on. That's not even close to to the same situation we're seeing right now. I'm sure Lin wouldn't care about his number if he would still be playing for the Rockets after Melo has come.
Here's how the conversation went with Tad Brown and they guy who put the marketing program together: Tad: I need multiple photoshops of Melo in a Rocket's jersey Marketing: What number should I give him? Tad: #7. That's what he is in NY Media's response: Rockets clowning Lin. Lin feels disrespected. Says "I will win a championship in Toronto before your Fab 5 do in Houston".
Ahahhahaha.... How could I not respond in some way to THAT?!?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PSXQJ9jujk
