I think it's a matter of tailoring the pitch to the audience. With Dwight, I think we knew he wanted to win championships and be in a lockerroom situation where he'd be happy. That makes it pretty easy to present him information on how he'd have exactly that with the Rockets. With Melo, it's kinda hard to know what he wants. I'm not entirely sure winning is his priority.

not true. read @Bimathug . Lowry/Harden/Parsons/Melo/Dwight is entirely possible although complex and would require SNT by both Toronto and NYK.

It's "possible" but it's hard to imagine.

That would be heavy luxury tax bills for Les.

Unless Les is all talk I think he would be ok with it. We wouldn't have to pay the repeater's tax for a couple of years.

Yea but at least the repeaters tax wouldn't hit this year. With the lockout looming it's entirely possible in 2 years we see a complete revamp of the system. I wouldn't be surprised to see the NBA become a freer market.

Which he has said he will pay for a true contender. I dont think anyone would argue a team like that would not be one.

Rockets were just reported to have the 3rd most profitable team. Time to re-invest. =)

True and I expect him to be willing to pay it, but that's like max max dollar deals. Are we going to have any depth? Because if so we are way over the line.

Maybe Les just wants to win at all costs before he dies.

I mean I would love it, but it's hard to see it all happening.

Not to mention it relies on being able to work out a sign and trade under specific circumstances.

on the lowry thing, sure it's broussard so take it with a grain of salt but i'm sure this is how toronto feels

The Rockets were trying to work out a way to acquire Kyle Lowry via sign-and-trade with the Raptors, but Toronto isn’t playing along, and that appears to have put Houston out of the running for the free agent point guard, tweets Chris Broussard of ESPN.com.
