As Carmelo Anthony leans toward leaving New York, Chicago and Houston emerge as frontrunners

Melo's agent probably said you guys got 2 hours to make your pitch.

 

Two meetings in two different cities today guys. Melo has a plane to catch.
2 hours was more than enough.

 

Something like three hours, iirc.

 

Maybe Les accidentally called him Lebron.

 

Not really. Presentation should be very similar, with a brief tour of the facilities.

 

I wouldn't worry about it one way or the other, Melo needs the Rockets a lot more than the Rockets need Melo IMO. Let him slum it in Chicago if he wants.

 

Isn't he going to Dallas to meet with the Mavs this evening?

 

Melo is on a legitimate time constraint so I'm not surprised the meeting was short. He's got to get to Dallas. The Bulls are more desperate than we are. Whether or not we get Melo, we will still be a contender next year. It's obvious we are the best fit basketball wise, really isn't too much to sell.

And for the Lin Photoshop thing...we did the same thing with Dwight and Beverley...and that turned out just fine.

 

Another question for us is what kind of supporting cast would a Lowry / Harden / Parsons / Melo / Howard need.

Remember, almost all of our assets would be gone, and these players will have to come at the minimum or close to it.

My best guess is:

1) 3 point specialist - Daniels
2) defense oriented PF - Jason Smith
3) true center - Okafor
4) defense oriented combo guard - Nick Johnson
5) backup wings - Garcia, Hamilton

Lowry / Johnson
Harden / Daniels
Parsons / Hamilton / Garcia
Melo / Smith
Howard / Okafor

This isn't necessarily true. We weren't a contender last year and we've only subtracted from the team at this point.

It doesn't have to be Melo, but this team needs to upgrade.

Hopefully because he just realized how much he's going to be paying in luxury tax for Lowry, Melo & Parsons.

 

I mean as a whole. Rockets went to LA. We were first. You cannot draw conclusions because it was 2 or 3 hours. Melo have to go to Dallas.

 

Just makes more sense to fly from chi to texas then back to LA where he has an off season home.
