    I'm excited to say the least.

    Just seeing those articles of Melo even wanting to play here has me pumped.

    Kind of crazy to think that a few years back we would've had a core of Poo Gasol and Nene, and now we have Dwight and James, with the possibility of adding another star. Times are great.

    They smooth put someone else in a player's jersey that's still on the team.

    I like Lin as a human being, but on a basketball level, that ish is funny.

    I think the Bulls can put together a package that Phil couldn't refuse, as opposed to letting Melo walk. The key would be taking knucklehead J.R. Smith and his 2015-16 salary off his hands. This might actually be another selling point to Melo, who is supposedly tight with J.R. The Bulls could offer:

    Boozer ($16.80m)
    Dunleavy ($3.33m)
    Butler ($2.01m)
    Randolph ($1.83m)
    Draft rights to McDermott
    Rights to Mirotic
    Total ($23.97m)

    for

    Melo (sign and trade at up to $22.99m first year, which is over max)
    Smith ($5.98m)
    Total ($28.97)

    The trade is within $5 million outgoing/incoming salaries, so it would work under the rules.

    This would leave the Bulls with a very formidable starting 5:

    Rose
    Smith
    Melo
    Gibson
    Noah

    Additionally, Melo would play his preferred position of SF, not PF like he will play in Houston. Again, I don't think it is looking good for us to get Melo.

    He has the will to win now and will play his heart out on defense when it counts. Anthony and Howard should have been paired up long ago...
