The media is so shameful. Oh no the Raptors won't help with a trade, if only they could sign him outright somehow.

I wonder if morey's strategy here is to put a decent S&t offer for Toronto given Lowry might just sign with another team. Right now they really want him back and aren't going to help anyone get him but if it's clear he might sign with another team with cap space they'll relent and take a s&t. What package would be enough for them if they think he'll just walk? Lin + dmo + a pick? Better than nothing but is it more than what others would offer him

So you are telling me that spiteful Dan Gilbert will sign and trade LeBron but the Raptors would rather let Lowry leave for nothing?

I posted this in the other thread but I'll say it again here-

THE BROUSSARD "REPORT" is a GIANT PILE OF BS

It should come as NO SHOCK that the Rockets would try and offer a S&T for Lowry First before opting for a straight up free agency offer, and it should be NO SHOCK (since its obvious Ujiri wants to play to win Lowry back) that Ujiri rejected to S&T offer right off the bat.

The great news for Rockets fans(if they want Lowry which most probably do) is that obviously Lowry is very interested in coming back to Houston if within hours of meeting up with Lowry, Morey already went to Ujiri with a S&T offer, and Lowry is "mulling" the offer from Toronto, and "mulling" a sit down visit with Miami & LA.

That's good news for Houston. It basically means Houston and Toronto are his two preferred teams.

And what this tells me is that the Rockets and Toronto are most likely offering more than the Heat can offer, and LAL was always just a last minute leverage option.

Wouldn't be shocked if the Rockets & Toronto are neck & neck with a 4 year 55 million dollar offer, or something close to that. They are probably getting a higher end offer if they can help facilitate a S&T with Toronto.

First, of course TOR is saying no right now. If they want to keep Lowry, and they say they do, they have to rebuff all S&T offers.

Toronto will only begin considering these possibilities after Lowry has already decided to leave Toronto and starts threatening to sign outright with some other team (be it Houston, Miami or whatever) in the absence of a trade.

Lowry mulling meeting with teams like MIA and LAL right now, so he's still working through his options and we are not nearly to the point of working out straight signing vs. S&T or whatever yet.

Houston may well not land Lowry but this Toronto saying no to a S&T at this stage is expected and not necessarily the final word.

Second, it makes sense that Houston would try to get Lowry via S&T first rather than doing a straight signing. I predicted this all along because S&T affords the Rockets more flexibility in terms of having the full MLE and BAE, in terms of how much they can pay Lowry and also in terms of taking on another big $ player.

If they do a S&T for Lowry with either Lin or Asik's contract (plus some assets), they can use the other Lin/Asik contract (plus other assets) to take on another big $ player (Love? Deng?...) while using the MLE and BAE to add two or three more guys.

If they open up the cap space to sign Lowry, the amount of $ (and thus talent) that the team can take on is more limited.

I like Lowry a lot, but I don't really like him enough to want him back at those dollars. He becomes like Bosh to me at that point. He's valuable to a team but is he really that valuable to the Rockets where he is only used to 75% of what he can do?

So we try to sign and trade for kyle and then hope Melo takes the pay cut or give up CP for Love?

So did the Rockets really make an official bid as in a contract of say in the 4 years 40-60 million range?

We sign Lowry. Then use the possibility of playing with Lowry + Howard + others to entice Lebron.

It would get rid of Lin so that would be helpful.

No, but the Heat are "rumored" to have roughly 12 million or so to offer Lowry or Gortat, and Lowry is being said to "mull" over the Rockets/Raptors offer before visiting Miami/LAL so what does that tell you.....

More $ with Hou/Tor... make up your own assumptions on the contract offer.

What other one? I thought Asik was dealt for NOP's 2015 first rounder. I mean, signing hasn't occurred, but a widely reported verbal agreement has been reached. Shocked if Rockets back out of that just to do two separate S&T's...
