I wonder if Morey end up trading Beverley and keeping Lin.

Likely not his preferred route but the things that make Beverley the one that the Rockets would prefer keeping (much lower contract $, great defense) also make him more desirable to potential trade partners. Maybe a Love trade end up being a 3 team deal with Asik going to New Orleands, Love coming to Houston, and some combination to be selected among Beverley, Jones, New Orleans pick and other assets going to Minnesota.

I am sure Morey may well prefer also trading Lin in the above scenario since this means that Lin's contract is used to match the money for someone with a big salary, and big talent, in some sort of trade or signing (Lin+assets for Lowry?). But who knows which of the many targets that Morey pursues is going to become a reality. Each puzzle piece in the NBA free agency could change where the Rockets go so it's hard to know where everything falls at this point.

Yeah....the Lowry thing seems like a big tip off. Obviously we can still go several routes, but it makes too much sense for us.

Make a big offer to Lowry. And by big, i mean go above $12 million if you have to. He is really the crux of the whole idea. Then you trade for a stretch 4. If Love, then you unload a ton of assets. If Anderson, just let them keep their pick and do a straight Anderson for Asik swap. Match Parsons, then (assuming Anderson) trade your mountain of assets for a bench.

But Lowry is the key. Lowry frees you to trade Llull, Canaan, and Beverley...all of whom have good value around the league.

    Believe what you want.

Lin has negative value relative to his contract, but Llull, Canaan, and Bev all have positive value.

Agree. I'm a Lin fan and even I know he's not worth his contract. But I think he's A great guy, has good skills and can do very well in the right situation - but he needs to be moved so both he and the rockets can be better off. It will help both sides and I can root for both. Just hope he lands somewhere decent that uses his skills (Toronto, gsw etc).

I don't think Canaan has much value at all. It's definitely positive value but it is miniscule. He was a second round pick that barely played at all in the NBA this season. He isn't going to be a swing in any trade.

Llull and Bev have more value than Canaan for sure, with Bev having the most.

What if we miss out on Melo/Bron/Lowry?

Does Morey say eff it and bring Deng/Gasol in?

If Toronto is currently the leader, I would think Houston is already out of it, no? Since we already met with him?

Any information leaked on how our meeting went with him?

I think the word came down that Toronto was offering a 5th year, nobody can match that and this is Lowry's last big contract.
