It only will be the fair thing if Costa Rica, already on to Quarterfinals, second from CONCACAF, and USA will advance as the first second seed. I don't see Switzerland getting past the potent Argentine attack. It will be fair if Italy and England, both winners of their groups in UEFA play, didn't advance either. People either didn't believe in Costa Rica or put too much thought into Italy and England.

Everyone fights their big brother and little brother, but we get mad if someone else beats up on them. I don't wish bad on the USA at all, even though some fans can't stand how much better Mexico and Costa Rica have done.

Hopefully USA will play well and humbly accept they were right in leading the region.

yes, but the americas are basically in the same time zone 2 hour difference. the fair thing would be when it's hosted in the americas, the us and latin america can watch at a comfortable hour while the euros watch a 2 am. and when it's hosted in the old world, then we can suffer watching at 2 am. oh well it is what it is.

Games in Europe would never be at 2 am American time, though. They would be afternoon/evening/night games in Europe and morning/afternoon games in the Americas.

Whoever pays the most for TV rights gets to pick the times.

I will be rooting for Switzerland, even though the two dudes in charge at FIFA are Swiss and French and gave their teams easy slots to advance out of group play (watch how the selection is done; easily manipulated...and England called them out on it, as the English are wont to do).

But not that I'm a fan of Switzerland. My wife is Brazilian, and the Brazilians can't stand the snobbish, racist attitudes that many Argentines (I won't say "all") throw in their direction.

Argentina must be stopped. Argentina cannot be allowed to win a World Cup on Brazilian soil. It would be a national disaster. Either war or 200 million suicides would occur, I don't know which.

    (Argentina will win today anyway.)

Ummm... that's funny, we don't watch European TV in the U.S. and A, and I'm more than sure Brazilian peeps aren't watching Univision. What, don't tell me you're paying to watch the games with an British accent?

Not impressed with Argentina so far.

Any good reason Tevez was left off the team?

Argentina could have really used him.

That chip was just bad. Take a touch and beat him to the near post. The keeper was in no man's land. There was no reason to rush that.

What a chance for the Swiss in the closing minutes.
