Wow we should just make a new thread for every available FA and flood the GARM with..Rockets are interested (insert player name).
Lowe is becoming more and more of a sensationalist reporter. My guess is that he's getting pressured from up on top to make his stuff more sensational. It used to be his articles were really dry and analytical. Now there's a lot more trying to create controversy for the sake of it.
How are you going to have enough cap space to sign Lowry without first getting rid of Lin's contract?
I think he's just getting caught up in his realization that he has a popular platform and apparently some fringe sources in some organizations, and is now incorporating rumors and cap gymnastics into his columns. I don't think he's "sensationalist" necessarily... it strikes me more as he's not 100% double checking the logic behind some of the "not basketball analysis" stuff he's doing. Like... he isn't wrong about the Parsons contract... he just forgot that Parsons can't sign and therefore increase a cap hold until next week. He also didn't really mention that there's probably a good chance at a good faith agreement going on between Morey and Parsons/Fegan.
Sign and trade for Lowry and PPat and then send Ppat to Minny in the Love deal That works right?
I don't see anyway that we can get Lowry + Love and not lose Parsons. As aelliott alluded to, we can't sign Lowry without dumping Lin first, and after that we'd have to use Chandler in a S&T to make it work with Love.
Rockets can create $10~11mil without trading away Lin and keeping TJones. If there's a need to clear up a bit more, they can even trade Lin for a slightly lesser contract. Say random expiring who has $7mil left. But given the number thrown out for Lowry, a contract that starts at $11mil probably will work. Then, trade Lin, TJones, perhaps Parsons S&T but not necessary strictly from a cap standpoint, bunch of other stuff, for Love.
Question: Lets say Melo ends up signing with the Bulls meaning they have to get rid of Gibson and Butler right? Wouldn't they trade them for a bag of peanuts just to create the capspace? So meaning we could get two young defensive standouts for a pick and a few role players (Jones)? That way we still may be able to turn around and send off Lin, Parsons, DMo, picks, rights to euro stash for Love? I know I'm dreaming now.. but anyways. Beverley/Johnson/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Butler/Covington Gibson/Capella/filler Howard/filler/ *Passes pipe*
oops Beverley/Johnson/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Butler/Covington Love/Gibson/Capella Howard/Love/Capella
You really should listen to his podcast with Shelbourne. There were so much misinformation in that podcast that it felt like Bill Simmons talking. Going from things like potential DeAndre Jordan for LeBron S&T, Warriors clearing space for Love/LeBron/Curry trio, to ignoring the Rockets possibility to clear any capspace. Of course, it is possible that the CBA and general NBA offseason stuff isn't his forte. It's possible he's just kind of ignorant when it comes to this stuff.
Gibson and Butler are very good players, and will net a more than decent return, much like Asik. Peanuts will get you Jeremy Lin.
Lol I called him out on one of his columns and his wrong estimation on Parsons' cap hold in the Facebook comments section and the pitchforks and torches were coming out with people defending him. He even responded back to my comment (which either shows he cares about the legitimacy of his information or his distaste for being questioned).
What other content do you suggest does an NBA fan board be flooded with at this time of the year? If there is some topic that you think should be discussed in a thread, then start a thread about it. People will discuss it or not discuss it in accordance with their interest level in the topic.
Lin's contract isn't necessary in a Love trade anyway, so might as well dump him if he doesn't cost much. You'll also have perhaps around $5 million to add more players (Thabo, Marion, Carter, Hill, Udoh, etc.) before completing a trade for Love using Asik's contract.
