So Stein is saying the offer will be a touch less.

He should take 12 million/year and sign with houston. What's that, about 2 million less and you get to play for a contender, with no state income tax.

The Rockets should trade Harden and Lin for Lowry and Derozen. Then try and trade Howard for Carmelo. With Chandler out of NY, maybe they would be interested in an overrated center who is a shell of his former self. New York is all about those sorts of players as they paid big money for Amare. After those moves, the Rockets have some cap space for players that can help win playoff games. I'd say, go for Spencer Hawes at center and Pau Gasol at PF. Then go for some real depth which the Rockets were lacking last season.

Given up on the Lowry's, Gortat's, Ariza's and Deng's of the world?

Looks like they've turned their attention to Steve Blake, Shawn Marion, and Vince Carter.

Holy crap. (a) that makes more sense, given their numbers, but (b) they continue to double-down on old and broken. Carter seemed to squeeze the last drops out of his tank this year.

and crash5179, that is an amazing sleestak story if true. Laimbeer would have been perfect in that role, but do you have a link? I loved the sleestaks, unlike that DERP poster.

14.5m in Toronto after taxes would be like 7.8m (estimated). 12m in Texas would equal about 7.8m, but you get to play with Harden and Howard.

All three of those guys on low dollar deals are impact bench players and would do a lot for Miami. Carter played very well against San Antonio in the playoffs. He's a guy I'd like to add on a minimum or BAE type deal to the Rockets.

Miami adds some guys like that and yes, they will be very old, but they will be very capable of winning the title.

It's O.K. because Lebron loves Shabazz Napier.
