Dont believe he signs an offer sheet he's on board with what Houston can do in free agency. I think more and more he stays a Rocket. Lin at worst is probably worth a second rd pick. Rockets could have 23 mil in cap space and do big things signing one or two Tier 2 FA's like Lowry, Ariza, Etc. have that MLE and BAE to lure a Tier 3 FA or two like Hill, Hawes, Sefolosha, etc. Those TPE's that can be included in deals, a slew of highly sought after International talent (Capela, Llull, Gentile), the Hornets first rd pick which has about the same value Houston acquired for Kyle Lowry, Multiple Rockets firsts, Lots of young talent already on the team (Jones, Motiejunas, Daniels, Canaan, Covington, etc). Lots of flexibility too make a trade for a big time player without even including Parsons in a deal. Or just the flexibility too add so much depth getting starting caliber role players in individual deals. There's not a direction the Rockets can go that won't vastly improve the team this summer.

Some team is going to offer Parsons crazy money - something like 4 years for $56 million and he would automatically go from one of the most valuable contracts in the league to one of the most overpaid contracts for a role player.

Am I the only one who, even after all these years, automatically thinks Cuban would be the one to try and prison-rape the Rockets by offering Parsons a big, front-loaded offer? Not that we wouldn't keep him anyway, but I always think of Cuban when I think of someone throwing in the monkey wrench.

Likely isn't that big of a deal. No matter what, Parson's can't sign an offer sheet until allowed to on July 10th. That gives the Rockets 10 days to reach an agreement with a FA. For argument's sake let's say we reach an agreement with Kyle Lowry today. On July 10th, first thing, we sign Lowry. Parson's is free to sign with anyone that he wishes on the 10th and we'd have until the 13th to decide if we're going to match. The timing is only a problem if we can't reach and agreement with a FA by the 10th.
I don't think the Parsons deal is going to be contentious at all. I'm sure he (and his agent) are on good terms with the Rockets on all of this and everyone is on the same page of what to do. I really doubt the Rockets did this huge favor for Chandler to get him paid a year early without some idea of what he was going to want to avoid burning them.
