If he wants to sabotage the meeting then show up with a serious limp and wince when you sit down and stand up. If he's still smiling sit back down and start rubbing the knee.

So if Gibson is present, I doubt Chicago discusses signing Melo outright in their meeting. Looks like they're going for a sign and trade, or hoping Melo takes a hefty paycut.

Do they just say things without checking the facts or do they honestly believe this? You could argue Harden's contract is one of the best deals in the league considering how low his current max is.

Still boggles the mind that Rose wouldn't want to at least make an appearance...

Harden and Howard know the importance of adding Melo and clearly want him there. While Rose seems apathetic either way.

Yeah, I think we have the best chance to sign Carmelo if Harden and Howard would be willing to recruit on behalf of the Rockets. Plus, we have new basketball upgrade facilities including locker room, weight room and so on. I would be surprised Carmelo would still sign with Chicago even though they have limited recruiting strategy. We have unlimited recruiting strategy.

I honestly think we have a better shot then Chicago to get Melo. LaLa loves Houston better. Houston is better for children. Teenagers are getting killed constantly in Chicago. Houston can offer more money, no state income tax. Houston can grow his brand better than Chicago. I just have that smooth feeling that Thibs will bomb his recruiting process, while McHale will make Carmelo feel like a son of his day 1.

Can we just stop with the idea that the Rockets can just trade for Love whenever they want? If Minnesota's not asking for Parsons, this deal would've been done already. But they clearly want Parsons since they've been wanting Klay Thompson during this offseason.

If Minnesota's asking for Parsons, this deal literally cannot be completed until next week. Not unless both teams want to get busted for tampering and have the trade nullified by the NBA.

Trades in the NBA are more complicated than just wishing for a player. If they're not, Houston would have Howard/Love/LeBron/Harden/Lowry by now.

Raises the question then: would you rather get Melo and keep Parsons or lose Parsons but get Love?

so what? we still had a better record than them and I know without rose but at this point, nobody knows what rose has left.

if he goes to bulls, great now they have to face miami who they won't beat with that roster anyways. sure west have better teams, but with our talents, we would be the fav to come out west with melo and spurs def showed that miami is beatable

We had the same record as the Heat yet we struggled in the playoffs. If the Bulls had our record they would have cruised through the bottom half of the East. Listen, I think we are the better option but I think these players are afraid of the West. They want to team up with their friends and have slumber parties all the way until the ECF where they most likely get destroyed by the upgraded Heat who subsequently get destroyed by the third Texas team.

If I were spending Les' money, I would want Love. And the reason is because if we trade with Minnesota, we can take on all of their bad contracts, use Asik's TE to obtain more overpaid vets, and still have the MLE to pay for more mediocre players.

For example, this can be the roster the Rockets can put out if we trade for Love.

Say we trade Jones, Parsons, Lin, Capella, NO 1st, our own 1st for Kevin Love, KMart, Budinger, JJ Barea.
Then use TE to obtain Ilyasova from the Bucks
Sign Papanikolau with part of MLE
Sign our 2nd round picks with the other part of the MLE, perhaps Gentile comes over.
Sign Danny Granger with Bi-Annual exception

    That would make it
    Howard/Love/DMo
    Love/Ilyasova/DMo
    Budinger/Papanikolau/Granger
    Harden/KMart/Granger
    Beverley/Barea/Nick Johnson

Also, in one year, half of that roster becomes expirings and the Rockets can trade them again Nets-style for upgrades. But again, this is Les' money and it will cost a lot.

If we get Melo, because of the lack of stacking salaries, Melo's higher max, and lack of MLE, the Rockets will be left with Howrd/Melo/Parsons/Harden/Beverley/Jones/Johnson and nothing else.
