They got steam rolled by the Lakers the year they made it to the finals. The only reason they made it was because the East was even weaker back then.
Jameer Nelson is a scrub. He was a serviceable starting point guard for a while, but now he is just a half-assed backup scoring option with no size and chronic injuries. Funny how people on the board b&m about Jeremy Lin all the time but rave about a clearly inferior player who continues to deteriorate each month.

Nelson at vet minimum >>>>>>>>> Lin at $15M. Salary plays a huge role in why people dislike Lin/his fan base. He has clearly not lived up to his salary at all.
He would be a spectacular pickup as a backup, but I don't think we can afford him. His 3Pt shooting has only fallen off because they are all contested with Dwight gone. Pair him with a star that commands attention and he will flourish.
First of all, no way Rockets can sign Nelson at vet minimum. Nelson is a scrub but still has a bit of residual value. Secondly, that makes even less sense if you throw the $15M figure out there. He will be paid $15M in THE COMING SEASON. In the last two seasons he has been paid $5M, which is very cheap for his production. You make it sound like he had a 3-year, $45M contract. Even if we were to even out his contract over three years, most people would agree his production is on par with an $8M annual salary. Not a bargain, but certainly no slouch either.
How much cap room do they have now? Seems like they are setting up for a move for a FA or overpaying for a RFA...like Parsons.
Career .374% 3pt shooter, he'd probably shoot much better with a diminished backup role in Houston too. He shot six 3's a game this season!! His career average is only 3.6
Nelson was not happy how Howard conducted himself his last year in Orlando. Unless they made up, Nelson is no longer a supporter of Howard.
Yeah I was just about to say that. They did not leave on good terms. Nelson is a solid player. Why was he waived? Could Orlando not have gotten anything for him?
I think with the strong possibility of Lin being traded (because a guy like Melo/Lowry/LeBr...oh wait never mind), Nelson would be excellent as a backup and with diminished minutes. Maybe even the great Keith Jones could keep him healthy.
