That shenanigan only works if you make the perfect pass. Not sure I would have had Kroos making that pass.
The idea was to have Muller fake the trip, confuse the defense and then slip in behind the line for a lob pass, but Kroos hit the wall.
Germany has had TONS of chances here in the final 20 minutes. Algeria's backfield has tons of holes, but Muller has not been able to capitalize.
Are the Algerian players fasting? I heard reports that they were? If they are, these extra 30 minutes spells trouble for their defense.
You've got to believe that the extra time is going to favor the Germans now. Algeria has retreated further and further back, while still giving up perfect opportunities for Germany to score. It's been a tough game so far, though, and Algeria has shown themselves to be incredibly resilient.
Honestly, even before this match, Algeria looked good. I think they are very underrated. They have good midfield players and complementary forwards.
