Why would Minnesota trade Kevin Love for Parsons, Lin, and a late first round pick?

Minny wants a bidding war between GS and Houston, and I don't hold that against them. It's just maximizing the value of an asset, but Morey has a history of refusing to gut the team just to get one player.

I'm ok with losing Parsons if Ariza joins. Of course, this is assuming we get Kevin Love

Only way we trade Parsons is we're getting Corey Brewer with Love and we're NOT taking back Kevin Martin. Also, we would need a pretty good ball-handling combo-guard committed (perhaps Sergio Llull).

I just don't see it. Minnesota would have to get close to a max-offer for Parsons to consider a SnT, and losing Parsons costs us our second best ball handler on the team.

    Just more reasons why:

    we aren't trading Parsons.

There's only one scenario under which we would trade Parsons. That is if we could acquire 2 superstars to put together with harden and howard for a big 4. And that's simply not going to happen. Lebron is going back to Miami. There's no deals we will do for Parsons. If Minny demands Parsons for Love...we won't trade for Love. We'll hold Parsons and try to get Melo in free agency. If we can't get Melo..then we'll sign value players to short term contracts and replay free agency next season with trade-able assets, including the Pelies' lottery pick.

So.....we could possibly trade Parson later...maybe next summer. But we aren't trading Parsons this summer. It's simply not happening.

keep in mind that it would be completely stupid of Parsons to say anything other than this. It doesn't mean he wants to leave, it means he wants the best contract offer possible for the Rockets to have to match. He would be sabotaging his own free agent value if he said there is no way I'm leaving Houston publicly.

FWIW perusing a wolves board they prefer Parsons, jones, and NOP pick to the Klay, Lee, package. They like the Bulls best with Mirotic and other pieces.

Methinks Morey is working like hell to identify other pieces to please the Wolves and keep Parsons. Jones, NOP pick, our next years pick, is a good start but need something else.....

On the B.S. report, Zach Lowe's "bold prediction" for July: Golden State gets Kevin Love. This Thompson stuff, they're not posturing. They are worried about giving up Thompson. Push comes to shove, they'll cave. Not better than 50% happening but I think Golden State gets Kevin Love.

The Rockets would not let Kevin Martin be a deal breaker. He actually would have value in the Rockets system. The Rockets would have their MLE and LLE to get a good combo guard ball handler. They also just drafted one.

As far as Parsons goes, if the Wolves are serious about offering him 13 million a year, that may be enough for him to not be mad at the Rockets. He has played in relative poverty compared to his teammates and would be getting an enormous amount of money.

Why would the Wolves trade for Parsons rather than just sign him? They want to shed salary like Martin and Brewer that could be absorbed by Houston in a S&T.

The "offer" probably looks like this (obviously could involved 3rd team)

Houston Out: Lin, TJones, Rights to their favorite eurostash (Llull, Papanikolaou, Capela, Gentile), NOP 2015 1st, Rockets 2015 1st, Asik $8.4 million TPE

Minnesota Out: Love, 2-3 contracts that expire (or could expire) in 2015

That's a pretty lucrative offer. Minnesota gets to dump salary without taking much back (especially if we can trade Lin for a non-guaranteed contract), a young proven player in TJones, a top notch euro prospect, a great quality pick from NOP, and our own pick.

Sorry about that. I made the thread and didn't even think that it could be read that way.

But I cannot change it since I cannot edit since I'm not a contributing member. A moderator would have to do it.

Rockets can facillitate trade of Eric Gordon and maybe Ryan Anderson (NOP needs to dump salary to finalize Asik trade) to Minny in addition to Jones, NOP 1st and Rockets 1st. Pelicans can also take K-Mart's salary (Gordon replacement) as well.

I have no doubt love would resign here. Howard and Harden would make his life real easy

If Houston cant land Lebron or Melo the offer to Minnesota I think will be:

    Parsons (S&T) + T.jones + Lin + 1 first (maybe not the NO pick)

    for

Kevin Love + Brewer or Kevin Martin

all this in two separate trades

If there is a way to include Parsons+Motiejunas+Lin+NOP pick+future pick for Love, Martin and Brewer I feel like we are essentially set. Just need backup pg and center.

    Howard
    Love/Jones
    Brewer/Cov
    Harden/Martin
    Bev/Nelson?

oh my...i had almost no words to express how idiotic that perspective is on so many levels. wow. I'll ignore the Parsons "plays D" statement...

Love is a rebounding beast akin to likes of Rodman and he possesses an elite scoring ability. You are comparing a 1st tier player in Love to a 2nd tier player in Parsons. IMO Love is easily a top 15 player in the league. (ESPN actually ranked him #11 last year) Anyway, let me try to address this in terms that may be easier for you to see. This would be equivalent to comparing Curry to Lin and saying you'd rather have Lin. I like Parsons and Lin as people and players but let's try to be objective --they are both 2nd tier players at this time. Perhaps in the near future, they can progress, but then again perhaps not. Also, if Love is "SO overrated," then what is Parsons?

If you can get an elite player, be it Lebron, Melo, or Love, you have to go for it and worry about the fit or pieces later. If you can't, you keep your core together and add complimentary pieces. It's that simple.
