    Anthony Morrow.
    Kyle Korver.
    Jason Kapono.
    Daniel Gibson.
    Troy Daniels.

These guys are a dime a dozen.
And over time they get ridiculously overpaid for what little they bring to the court other than shooting.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over losing Daniels... now Parsons, he's a different story.

It may take something to dump him when Durant is available.

Also, why are you so convinced that Melo is "not happening"? Wojo said that there isn't a front runner in between Chi and Hou. I think we will offer him more money.

Kyle Korver is way out of place on that list. I would LOVE to have Korver on the Rockets. If Troy Daniels end up like Kyle Korver that is amazing.

About to say the same thing. His last contract was for a total 240 million dimes over 4 years.

For MLE money so would I.
However, I'm talking about how many of these shooters though also don't pan out over time. Sure Daniels might be the next Korver and stay consistent, but he could just as easily turn into the next Kapono or Morrow.

We've all seen Daniels defense, his inability to rebound, and his lack of any offense beyond a catch and shoot three and maybe the occasional mid range J.

Why would you list Korver on a list that included Kapono and Morrow at all though?

They aren't close. Korver is an elite elite shooter, one of the best shooters the NBA has ever seen. And despite his weak defense and funny gifs, he can actually fit on the floor which tends to be part of the problem with these "shooters." The other problem is that most of them can't shoot at those rates if given extensive shot attempts, something Korver has never had a problem with.

Korver is fun to make fun of, but he an absolute awesome roster member.

I'm not saying Korver sucks, I'm just listing all the three pointers shooters that had the hype Daniels had last season.
Because they all started out with that three point shooter hype. Like Daniels has now. Impossible to tell where his career is going to end up if he gets the shots Korver gets. Safer to just assume he's a dime a dozen player and look for the next great shooter to sign for the absolute minimum on an non-guaranteed contract. I didn't even name all the one-dimensional shooters that didn't make it because frankly I don't remember some of them.

Sorry, you listed Kyle Korver in a post and said he was part of a group that were a dime a dozen and that is just flat out wrong.

I'm just going to say this: I'd rather have old Ray Allen right now than Kyle Korver. I'd rather have Kyle Korver than extra cap room for Free Agency. And I'd rather have cap room than Troy Daniels.

All of the Rockets recent movements mean something.

    1) We made Parsons a RFA, which means we WILL NOT have max cap room in 2015.

    2) We declined Daniels option.

    3) We traded Asik, but the deal won't be finalized until next week....meaning it can be evolved into a multi-player/team deal.

    4) We drafted a euro-stash.

All of this could make sense for either a trade or to create cap room. The main piece I don't understand is Daniels. Why would you decline his option and not Covington's?

He doesn't have a team option. He also has a partial guarantee for this season, but is unguaranteed for next. No reason to make a decision today on him.

One thing you can bank on..... Any Rockets player that is available.....Mark Cuban will be circling like a shark (tank). Cuban jocks everything the Rockets do (strategy/players) so he will be watching.

Lebron and Melo are better players. I am pretty sure Trey doesn't mind the Rockets wanting to pay him more money.

    Edit:

Sorry Joe Joe, I didn't read the original post or your reply closely enough. Your post is absolutely correct.

I hope no one poison pills Daniels, that would be absurd but he definitely is a useful player in this league and he proved it against Portland. I'm expecting that he had a very hush hush deal with the Rockets to not sign another team's offer or even field offers, otherwise letting him go into RFA this early is risky.

I would laugh if somebody does. That would cripple the team that did it.

Eve of FA. Any way you can get some info from your contact?

The declining of options point to your theory of the Asik deal being a small part of a bigger deal.

I don't believe you can poison pill Daniels. We don't even have early bird rights on him.
