I certainly agree that there's a chance he doesn't leave Chicago. And I'm dubious of the fact that he'll be meeting with both TX texans in the same day. But maybe Morey pulls it off. No idea how he feels about Dwight, parsons, and Harden personally, but we certainly give him the best chance to win rings. At his age he's gotta be thinking about that.

Why is a Bron/Melo team up on the Lakers not a possibility?

There is basically a 0.000000000% chance that happens. Free agents LOVE the attention, and they want to know their options in full detail. Carmelo has yet to be a free agent in his entire career, and you think he's going to commit after one visit? Dwight to Houston was obvious from a mile away last summer, and even he spoke with five different teams. He didn't commit until July 5. LeBron in 2010 seemed ticketed to Miami for some time, and he didn't commit until July 8. And now Carmelo is going to commit within hours on July 1?!? This thread is getting bizarre.

Carmelo might not make the Lakers visit "next week", but he's going to visit all three of Chicago, Houston and Dallas. 100%. The only free agents that commit on Day 1 are guys who are re-signing (Chris Paul) or guys who are obviously overpaid. Not max guys going to a new team.

That's fine, just pointing out that it's wild and completely unfounded speculation. Par for the course with this whole Chicago saga, I suppose.

I know it is silly but its just something I recalled and wondered if it applied. We had the first meeting with Dwight last season and we ended up sealing the deal with him.

Woj and Amick say there is no front runner between Chicago and Houston. That's all we're working on.

We did. But there are plenty of examples the other way, too. The Bulls had the first meeting with Bosh in 2010. LeBron led off his visits with New Jersey.

In some ways, the Dwight saga was more of an "open book" because everyone went to visit him in Los Angeles. So he could call the shots, however he wanted. With Carmelo going to visit the teams, geography becomes a factor, and Chicago is the closest team to New York. Likewise, the Texas teams are ridiculously close together, making it logical to do both in a day. It's different circumstances than when all the teams are traveling to visit you, which was the case with Dwight.

It's clear Chicago's the frontrunner because of all the connections from Noah to Thibs being shared an agent.

But it's just as clear that Chicago doesn't necessarily offers the best opportunity. If LeBron's staying in Miami like everyone says and Lowry's joining them, the East would not be as bad as it's cracked up to be. They would still have to beat both Indiana and Miami, both of whom are on par with any of the top WC teams.

The reason Melo is meeting with Chicago first is because it's closer to New York, where he currently resides. Duh. He'll take the short flight from NYC to CHI on June 30, meet with Bulls staff at midnight, and that will allow him to do HOU and DAL together the next day. It's just more practical.

It would be utterly silly for him to do it any other way. If he starts with HOU, then he wouldn't be able to do CHI and DAL on the same day, the way he could with HOU & DAL.

Ah, point taken. Thanks man, I'll leave the worrying side and just trust in Morey.

Selling point for the rockets would be comparing rose with his mega contract and bad knees to amare. He doesn't wanna go through that situation again. Which makes me think why tmac would endorse playing his prime with injure riddled stars (hill and Yao). You never know if rose comes back 100% physically or mentally. Is that something you risk tying practically the rest of your career with? Sounds sexy, but when it comes down to making a decision, I think he goes with the less risky choice in Houston if we guide him the right way on wed...I trust Daryl has a few tricks up husband sleeve.

^^^ Yeah, you better believe Morey will have reports from various sports doctors that states how unlikely it is for a player to recover fully from ACL+Meniscus injury as well as how Rose's playstyle puts him at higher risk of future injuries.

Melo doesn't have to totally believe the Rockets, he just need some more doubt inserted into his head. This is his last contract. Morey's question to him will definitely be, "Do you really want to risk your entire legacy on Derrick Rose's knees?"

    On Melo
On him playing on the US basketball team, which the team declared he's good to go for a while now.

I really doubt Morey will spend any time in his pitch attacking the opposition. It rarely works. Melo isn't stupid, he doesn't need to be told that Rose is injured. He'll do his own research.

Mediocre salesmen attack their competition. Good ones will tell you that it makes you look desperate and often whiny.

If you feel their is information about the opposition they need to know that they might not know, you insert is subtly without it sounding like an attack.

When I see all this rehab business, I'm reminded that maybe we just have a shot at Carmelo after all....and that maybe Doc Rocket's tweets are more opinion than fact (going after Kevin Love, and us not having a shot at Melo).

Then again, I think, If Melo is resigned to going to Chicago, we see if we can persuade him, lest our pursuit of Kevin Love (without offering any of our Big Two and a Half) fall through.
