    Then Morey is extremely confident,

Or Parsons has let the Rockets know that he will not be returning if they make him play under that salary another year.

Actually that might not be accurate. In order to give Lebron or Melo as much money as possible we will very likely have to rescind Chandler's qualifying offer and resign him after we sign the 3rd star using his Bird Rights. The Rockets may very well already have an agreement ironed out with Chandler and his agent.

Agreed, although the withdrawal of the qualifying offer, the signing of the outside free agent and the re-signing of Parsons will all likely occur simultaneously (albeit in THAT order).

Houston and Parsons agent can come to an agreement on what Parsons new contract prior to signing the 3rd star but they just can't make it official until after the 3rd star signs due to the salary cap.

Also, Houston is the only team that can exceed the salary cap to sign Chandler and they are they only team that can offer parsons a 7.5% annual raise a season of the life of his contract. No other team can offer more than 4.5% raises.

Daryl Morey has every reason to be confident that no one can sign Parsons out from under the Rockets. Still, he will not remove the RFA tag until it's absolutely necessary.

Yep, I would think DM will leave as little as possible to chance. All of this will likely be ironed out and agreed upon prior to the end of the moratorium and then all things done like you said, simultaneously to prevent any unpleasant possibilities.

I'm not laughing at you cmoney23. I'm just...

Okay I'm laughing at you. Posting Alex Kennedy as a source is like posting son of sam's dog as a source. Plus, just read what he's reporting...nothing we haven't heard and certainly nothing useful.

If Melo goes to chicago . . .and Lebron stays in Miami
Next Season . . Melo will still probably still be second at best
    third behind Indie at worse

    Rocket River
and on and on and on

Good to know Alex is keeping up with the Executive of Janitorial Services & the Executive of Player Hydration to get this insightful update.

While i think our chances for lebron are not as high s 3 days ago, i do believe we have a good chance to land either love or melo.

Right now iam pretty torn as to who i would prefer but that doesent really matter because i would be going crazy if we got either.

Like previous posters have stated from basketball reason alone there is alot to worry about if melo were to sign with chicago...the big advantage is the HC.

I dont know weather i should take not signing an assistant yet (defensive coach) as a plus . Are we just waiting to see who the players prefer or does hollins think he can wait for a head coaching job.

Either way if we get that settled i dont see how Melo can make that dumb a decision especially if all is good in miami...thats a big plus IMO

Iam not as confident in getting love as iam in melo because of the trade route we would have to take. I have to believe that parsons is in moreys plan to be the perfect 4th option on a team, so why would we obtain love while losing two 1sts and t jones if we knew melo was a real option..my two cents

I wonder if it's the same execs that told Rich Bucher that Kyle Lowry was going to Miami!

Carmelo will meet with Chicago on Tuesday, the Rockets AND Mavs on Wednesday, and the Lakers sometime next week. With all the reports posted on here it seems like Melo to Chicago is a lock and he is most likely meeting with everyone else out of respect (or to get a free dinner or two).

I wouldn't take anything out of that. Meeting with Rockets and Mavs on the same day makes sense. If the Rockets are after the meeting with Dallas and Chicago then it's actually the best position to be in.

...and what if he stays in Houston all the way until he books his flight for LA the following week?
