My thoughts exactly. If Kevin Martin a deal breaker in getting Kevin Love, I think Morey would be making a mistake.
Just so I understand, something like: Houston In: Love, filler PHX In: Gordon, other assets from Houston Wolves In: Bledsoe, Asik pick NOP: Asik Not bad all around.
Kevin Martin's contract isn't bad but Jesus, adding Kevin Love and Kevin Martin does the opposite of addressing our most glaring need: DEFENSE! We would have literally 2 guys on the entire team that would defend. Beverley and Howard. Neither Harden or Love have shown any signs of discipline on that side of the floor, and they have given me no reason for me to believe that they are even capable of turning themselves into respectable defenders for the betterment of the team.
Man if we could get Love, our championship window would go from three years to possibly seven being that Love and Harden are both only 25. We could realisticly win 2-3 rings with a Howard/Love/Harden core.
This has been said before, but one of Love's greatest strengths is his rebounding. In between him and Dwight, we would lead the league in DREB and OREB. That in itself is a boost to our defense. People rag on Harden's individual defense, but his ability to get to the FT line allows us to limit opponent's transition buckets and for us to set up defensively. We all know that Kevin Martin AND Kevin Love excel in this category, as well. Cmon guys, no one is asking/expecting us to develop a 04 Pistons defense.
I honestly think it would be best to get rid of Parsons if they were to bring in Melo/Love. At that point defense would be a much bigger need than offense.
Morey " I am going to have to resign from being the rockets GM, my personal life has been hell since I made the trade for Love, everywhere I go, multiple rocket fans attacks me and goes down on me, at resturants, during movies, even when im at the park with my kids for god sakes! "
Bringing PHX into this... Why would PHX want to move Bledsoe for Gordon?? An aside, from that Pelicansreport site, sounds like Minny would be happy to take Gordon and that Pelicans would be happy to take KMartin. Fresh starts for both.
Harden can play defense if coached correctly. His problem is not a lack of ability but desire. Love is great at rebounding and is tall. If they are all properly motivated it would work.
Phoenix isn't moving Bledsoe. They want to keep him; match him in RFA. And while very, very, very unlikely, they're making a run at LeBron & Carmelo/Bosh. One of the selling points? Hey LeBron, you get to play with your friend Eric Bledsoe! And why would Bledsoe agree to go to Minnesota? No more likely to agree to go there than Chandler Parsons.
They 'say' they'll match any offer (yet drafted Ennis? Might he be traded before actually signing?). Difference between Bledsoe and Parsons is simple - - Bledsoe will get a max from someone; Parsons is more likely looking at 4 years, starting at 10. Saunders (or someone else?) could blow him (and DM the GM) away with an offer well above that, above what the Rox expect to have to pay Parsons. Big difference. Saunders is not IMHO getting CP's signature for less than a 13m start. Like everyone else on the BBS, and throughout the NBA spectrum, anxiously ready for things to start shaking out.
