Will we know where Carmelo, Love, LeBron, etc. are going to sign?

Kevin Love is not a free agent
Carmelo said the 2nd week of July.

    We'll have a good idea.

Even Kevin Love stuff should be known before July 10th if Minnesota's waiting on Parsons. Otherwise there's the chance that he signs an offer sheet elsewhere, making him untradable once we match. If they don't care for Parsons, then it will probably drag on a bit longer.

But certainly all the important players will have commited by the 10th.

Yes....I think so. Doc said "Before July 4th". I imagine Melo's stuff will break over the weekend, but the Rockets should know before then.

Why the pessimism? Wade is on the decline, Miami has no center, and Bron would have to take less to stay. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that Bron stays in Miami. If you were 29 yr old Bron, and you were about getting more rings, would you hitch your wagon to 32 yr old Wade? Or would you rather hitch your wagon to Harden, Dwight, and Parsons? I think Houston has a great shot. At all the top free agents frankly.

Miami has ~$55 million in cap room. The only player under contract is Norris Cole(who they're trying to trade). Everyone else opted out or is a free agent. They're already discussing contract scenarios to re-sign. And LeBron most definitely does not have to take less.

Lebron stays taking the max. Bosh and Wade will take pay cuts.

I think Melo stays because I think he values money over winning.

I believe we get Love and keep Parsons. I think Golden State will not want to give up Barnes and Thompson. I think we can sell the Wolves on Jones having bigger upside than Barnes and potentially having a higher ceiling than David Lee. We will end up getting Young to add to the deal and give up Canaan and maybe another peice for Asik since the Pelicans need to cut salary.

I think it is obvious Morey, Fagan and Parsons have a wink wink idea on what is going to go down. If we can't get another star, we will make a deal with Parsons and go for depth. We still have the option later on to trade him for Love if the Wolves try to keep him until the deadline.

Actually Miami is still way over the cap until they either renounce the big 3 (losing their bird rights) or resign the big 3. It's probably all just semantics since they will likely make all of their deals simultaneously at the end of the moratorium.

Yes they are "discussing". That doesn't mean anything. Bron didn't opt out just to do Miami a favor. He's gonna take a legit look around and explore his options.

I don't think Riley did himself any favors by publicly insinuating that if Bron bolts he's quitting on the team; cut and run.

    I'm not writing us off.

Take a look around? Too bad they can't get in touch with James.

I guess keep the dream alive.

Don't be disappointed when it doesn't happen! :)

It means nothing. Bron doesn't have to be in a rush for anything. The entire league is on his sack. No way I'm gonna get worked up over rumors and conjecture. On the substance, Houston's got something worth selling.

Miami is obviously opting out to bring Carmelo to Miami. Why else would they all back out and renegotiate far smaller contracts? If Carmelo doesn't join Miami I'll kiss a donkeys ass! (P.S. - Thank God I am right.)

Lebron staying in Miami is certainly the high favorite now, where if Wade had not opted out I would say leaving would have been the favorite. I read one report that said that Wade and Bosh opted out in order to pressure Lebron into staying, but it seems to me that Lebron would give them an answer on where he was leaning or what it would take to make him stay before they opted out. Certainly Lebron would be kind of screwing Wade over if he led Wade to opt out and then didn't even stay. It's unlikely, but possible, that Lebron said that he needed to see the team improve, and Riley is the one who convinced Wade and Bosh to opt out in hopes of doing that improvement. It still makes staying in Miami the favorite, but not quite a done deal until Miami shapes the rest of the roster.

If the reports of Lebron looking for a max deal in Miami are true then staying there would be my preference for him if he isn't going to be a Rocket. Keeping him in the east makes Chicago less appealing to Carmelo and the Heat probably can't drastically upgrade their supporting cast unless Bosh and Wade take huge enough pay cuts to cover Lebron's deal and add someone of significance. And any long term contract for Wade is likely to be dead money by the end of it.
