Love. And it is not even close. He is the perfect fit next to howard. However i think the real question is love or parsons and Anthony. I would still choose love.
I think almost everyone on here agrees with you. Love is a better fit, and younger. He'd be unbelievable next to Howard. He's the perfect addition. But the issue is whether losing Parsons would be worth it. I'm not even sure the Rockets would be willing to deal for Love if it meant losing Parsons.
Love by far. Melo is a square squeezing through a circle of the Howard and Harden games. Love is the near perfect round circle. Parson is replaceable.
If there was a way were could get Love and Lowry, I think we'd be set for a long time. Lin traded and Beverly as the backup. Probably costs us Parsons, too, but I think this would set us up for the long term and be a better playoff team ultimately than with Melo. All assuming, of course, that LeBron isn't possible.
I don't there is any way we could get Love and Brewer without including either Harden or Howard. Parsons D-Mo/Jones (or both) Possibly Lin (don't know if they have any interest in him, I would think not) And several draft picks May not be enough to get Love, much less Love+Brewer
You would have to toss in the 2 first round draft picks for next summers draft to make the Wolves consider it
I could be wrong but I think that NO lottery pick really puts us back into the Love race - especially if GS really won't trade Thompson. I think a package of NO pick, Rockets pick(s), T.Jones, Euro Stash(s) is right in the ballpark. Remember Love has to "agree" to want to resign where he's traded else why give up more then that - and yes I know teams have said they would trade for him without that assurance but let's forget them for now because that never seems to happen. So who else besides us can offer a lottery pick PLUS multiple #1's and young assets to the Wolves that Love would agree to? Nobody. So all we have to worry about is another team - like GS - willing to give up a MAJOR young player who trumps our lottery pick. Maybe that offer is out there but I haven't heard it.
Love is all we need. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/s-pFAFsTFTI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Even with the 2015 pelicans pick the Rockets IMHO have very little to offer compared to Boston & Chicago & golden state (if they include Thompson). Furthermore the Kings offer of the 8 pick etc for Love WITHOUT his agreeing to an extension would trump the Rockets offer. That was a top 10 pick in one of the best drafts in the last decade + vs a potential top 10 pick in an unknown 2015. IMO alot of cfans are overly optimistic about the pelicans pick. The Pelicans were 10th in the lottery last year (would have been 11th had Cleveland not get 1% lucky) despite playing with significant injuries to their best players in Anthony Davis, Drue Holiday, Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon. Is it really likely that the Pelicans will not be better than last years Pelicans whos five most played players were, Aminu, Morrow, Tyreke Evans, Brian Roberts and Austin Rivers? As for "PLUS multiple #1's and young assets to the Wolves" the only young assets the Rockets have are Motiejunas, Tjones and their recent late draft pick and 2nd round picks. Plus multiple future number 1's for the Rockets = picks in the late 20's. The only possible slightly notable asset the rockets could use is Chandler Parson, but that is ONLY IF he agrees to a sign and trade with him heading to the Timberwolves OR the rockets rescinding their offer to make him a rfa and instead option him for one more year making him an UFA in 2015-2016 and trade him to Minnesota. His value in this case would also be decreased due to him being able to leave Minnesota like Love after one season.
