what??? Gentile has a better NBA body, he's more of a slasher, he has attitude, but he's not a better passer/shooter than belinelli...you know him well?? get out of here..
Say wha??? I truly hope not. I used to play pickup games against guys with more quickness and a quicker release than Gentile. Heck, my daughter plays AAU ball against quicker players. This guy will need double screens to get a shot off.
Speaking of Carlos Delfino, what does his contract situation look like? He was injured with the Bucks last year and sat out the whole year. Is he an option for us this off-season? I would love to get him back here and dump Casspi and Garcia! He probably would have got us out of the first round last year if he were healthy cause our bench was atrocious! Anyway, would more than welcome the Italian Delfino on this team as well as the real Delfino if the option was available to us.
Nevermind, he has 2 years left @ $3.25 mil per year. Wonder if he was healthy and the Rockets were in talks for Ilyasova if they could package Gentile's right in the deal in exchange for Delfino.
Sure... Now, just 'coz Belinelli won the 3pt contest at ASG, he's the italian superhero. Just like some years ago your superhero was Bargnani, than Gallinari and maybe even Rusconi almost 20 years ago...
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Alessandro Gentile: I am proud of having being selected by the Rockets in the draft. I think my next future will be in Milano</p>— Sportando (@sportando) <a href="https://twitter.com/sportando/statuses/482994639872745472">June 28, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Too bad.
I was thinking the same thing. He looks slow off the dribble as well. It will be interesting to see how he does against more athletic and long NBA players as far as getting his shot off.
Why? Because our late second round pick isn't coming over right away in order to sit at the end of the bench? Because Les Alexander had several superior options on which to spend the remainder of the Rockets' 2013-14 annual cash limit, which cannot be carried over beyond this Monday? Because Gentile will never, ever come over, no matter what? Hell, I view this as a POSITIVE! Let him continue to improve by playing regular significant time against good competition (probably better than the D-League) for a year or two, all the while not counting a single penny against the cap. Anyone upset by this news either (a) greatly overestimates Gentile's ability to be a major contributor on an NBA championship contender next season or (b) just likes to complain about stuff.
too bad for now. he can come over in 2-3 years after the rockets experiment of Harden and Howard goes awry and FAILS. They will need bodies to put on the team. sarcastic possible scenario though 20%
