Why are so many here scared that some team will give him an offer sheet for ? Parsons not gonna sign it. They can offer the moon but if chandler wants to stay here he won't sign an offer sheet
This is a very strong signal that Lebron, Love, Melo, or Bosh is coming. I think (and hope) it's Love.

Technically at some point he HAS to sign an offer at some point, or his contract defaults to the QO (qualifying offer) or the maximum we have available under the cap should we offer it to him. RFA only allows you to match a contract to go above the cap or offer up to your available cap space. If the offer is larger than our available cap space (think anything in the $10M+ range if Lin stays on the roster) and he does NOT sign it, then he loses any dollars above that threshold. And if he doesn't sign an offer at all by the end of FA, the QO becomes binding (think $1M/year). And let's not forget that other teams aren't going to wait forever on Parsons. If you extend an offer it ties up your own cap space, so teams generally will not give you an infinite amount of time to consider their offer. Wait too long and they simply back away and go after someone else. Let's also not forget that as other teams become impatient and move onto their other options, the number of potential landing spots (and teams competing to sign him) declines. And the less competition there is for financial services, the tougher it is for Parsons to get a fair contract. Assuming Parsons worked something out with Morey he can stall to a point, but it's not like he can stall for months without severely hurting his own ability to get a favorable salary offer for Morey to match.

1. an offer sheet can not be signed prior to the moratorium being over. 2. After the offer sheet is signed the Rockets have 3 days to match or decline. 3. We will likely know where Melo or Lebron are going prior to the end of the moratorium. If one of the big name free agents choose the Rockets there should be plenty of time for them to sign a contract and so the Rockets can match an offer for Parsons before the 3 days expire. I don't really see this as an issuer at all.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, that info is wrong. 1. Although the RFA offer expires on Oct 1, it can be extended as far out as March 1. 2. The Rockets have Parsons Full Bird Rights, therefore they can exceed the salary cap in order to sign him up to the maximum allowable contract for a player that has 3 years of service. I believe that number is starts at about $14 million and comes with as much as 7.5% raises over as many as 5 years. 3. Parsons never has to even entertain another teams sales pitch in order to get paid 10+ million this coming season. edit: Thanks to BimaThug for pointing out to me that the Rockets can offer Chandler Parsons up to 5 years (not 4 as I originally posted).
FIFY. Full Bird rights entitle a team to offer up to five years on a new contract. They are only capped at four years in sign-and-trades. You may also be thinking of EXTENSIONS on rookie scale contracts, in which the number of (extended) years can't be more than four, except for one Designated Five-Year player (for the Rockets, James Harden).
I was worried about the same thing, but he actually can't sign anything and put the Rockets on the clock until the moratorium is over, so it really doesn't matter.
Ugh eff off Cavs. Go overpay Deng and work on wasting the first 9 years of Wiggins career before he becomes a Laker or whatever.
Chandler would never play in Cleveland anyways. Way too small of a market to further his modeling and other endeavors

I still hate this decision--why not keep options open with him at another year at cheap salary? Then we could pursue free agents next year if we strike out this year. Now we HAVE to get SOMEONE this year.
Will Jeremy Lin fans be satisfied with his bigger role on the Rockets if Parsons leaves? Or will they continue to blame Harden, McHale, and Rockets fans if he doesn't improve?
Who's available next year? All the good ones are opting out this year or are looking to extend now. Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Melo, Randolph -> Opted out Lowry, Deng, Pierce, etc -> FA LMA, Love -> looking to extend
