I have to agree with this basketballholic. You have a lot of good insight but wade will NOT take a minimum salary this year followed by a balloon. Even if Miami wanted to keep their word, the League would stomp on it like the doc rivers move to the clippers. Wade wouldnt risk that. I say he opts out and signs long term for $55-60m over 4 years. Frees up cap space if bosh does the same to go after a mid tier player in the $8-10m range if bosh does the same. I think lowry's possible now that haslem has also opted out.
Hope nobody is counting on getting any of these guys since I have not heard anything serious about Houston. I doubt Melo or Lebron would play for Mchale. Love I think would though but he will carry a heavy price tag...everybody except Harden and Howard. Have you heard different?

Wow, I'm pretty shocked. I honestly didn't think he'd torpedo his future earnings potential like that. Well, Lebron is staying to lose another couple of finals now I guess.
and what does this mean for the Rockets? If we don't get Melo... what do we do to get better... we got money....

Bring back Parsons and try and trade for Kevin Love or Rondo, or Sign Kyle Lowry. And pursue Bosh if the heat go after Melo instead. Pau Gasol is another possibility as well.
Still a chance we could get Melo. If not perhaps Lowry? Still moves to be made but Lebron was a 1% at best all along.

Yeah the Haslem opt out along with the Wade/Bosh opt out pretty much signifies that the big 3 are coming back, and just restructuring contracts. (guessing Haslem is going to be made right for years to come post playing days with a high paying player development/coaching/scouting role for this). Morey's probably shifting most of his focus now on Melo and rightfully so. As long as Phil Jackson isn't in love with Taj Gibson & the Bulls assets coming back in a S&T (remember Melo gets more in a S&T) & the Rockets are really on an equal playing field, you'd have to give the upper hand to Houston. Its going to be a tight call to tell if Morey is truly going to land a big fish. You'd have to think Lowry is still in consideration, but you have to think that Morey isn't just going to give him a max level deal that another team might. Its gonna be interesting. Melo is pretty much the last hope of a true big 3 with 3 true superstars.
55 million 10 - Wade 15 - Bosh 15 - Lebron 15 - Melo? or 15 - Wade 15 - Bosh 15 - Lebron 10 - Lowry Rocket River from the other thread
I guess it's time to once again root for nothing for Lebron besides epic failure. BOO THAT MAN. In a way though he's making his own bed; did you see ANYTHING out of that team last year that gave you an indication that a PG upgrade was exactly what they needed? I can't see Wade and Bosh doing anything but declining from here on out. And athletically, Lebron has also passed his apex. He's gonna have to rely on skills alone from here on.
I think the shift is to two medium fish about now. I look at it like this If we can get solid 8s 1-5 [though Howard is a 10 and Harden is a 9] While the heat had 6,10,10,8,7 [lowry] or 6,10,10,10,5 [Melo and Wade coming off the bench or playing PG] we will be able to compete. Rocket RIver
I think a team with Lowry, Harden, Howard, Parsons, with a defensive 4 is a contender. If Lowry is willing, this wouldn't be a bad deal at all. Chris Bosh would be a perfect fit, as he can defend, and hit the three.
@WojYahooNBA: Sources: As James plans for max deal, Bosh, Wade and Haslem will opt-out of deals with hopes of staying together. http://t.co/UazTOX4XpB/s/htJP
