On offense I think there roles would be identical. On defense love gets the slight edge due to size and rebounding but it's a lot closer than people think imo

For the next two years, Carmelo. But if we are talking 5-10 years, then Love.

Don't get me wrong, I'd give up Parsons for Love in a heartbeat along with other shiny things. It's just the idea of Anthony + Parsons that changes things.

Have you even watched Love? He creates plenty for himself and others.

I've changed my mind, I think for the final time.

I want Love for any cost that doesn't include Howard, Harden or Parsons....even if Melo is available for nothing more than cap space.

Sounds crazy.....I know. But the fit is too perfect.

Assuming Love can stay healthy, I'd take Love

Love by miles. Melo is overrated and older. He is a ISO ball stopper. Love is a team player.

If we were just comparing the two players directly, I would rather Kevin Love over Carmelo easily.

But the fact that Melo is a FA and Love isn't complicates things.

Would I rather Carmelo and Parsons, or would I rather Love without Parsons?

I would think probably Carmelo with Parsons. Although, I'm not a salary cap expert, but I think if we signed Carmelo as a FA then we would sacrifice our MLE? But if we traded for Kevin Love we would still have our MLE? (someone correct me if that is wrong)- so if we were able to trade for Kevin Love, we then could use our MLE to try to bring in a 3&D guy to play the 3 spot? Someone like Marion or Sefolosha?

I'm not sure if that is true and even if it is it would have a lot more moving parts, which makes it less likely. But I would be fine to have a lineup of:

    Beverley
    Harden
    Marion (or another defensive guy)
    Love
    Howard

Love is the better fit, but he doesn't want to come to Houston. Carmelo might. That is why I voted for the latter.

    Beverly
    Harden
    Parsons
    Anthony
    Howard

    or

    Beverly
    Harden
    Parsons
    Love
    Howard

As much as I want Melo, and still have faith that he'll end up here, I would have to take Love b/c he's the better fit, that line-up with Love it screams at least 2 championships (with a good bench of course) but Melo would damn sure be a nice consolation prize..

I agree! The only problem is for us to get Love, we would have to give up several pieces- I don't think Minnesota would even begin to negotiate with us unless we included Parsons. And I'm not sure if Morey would negotiate if they demanded Parsons.
