melo is willing to take less...for a team that can give him the best chance to win a title...he is gonna take less if he comes to houston cuz the rockets won't offer him max anyway...they will sell him on a chance to win a title, not money.

Stop being deliberately obtuse(unless it's not deliberate in which case you have my sympathy). I'm comparing the Rockets to the other teams on Melo's short list. Chicago has a strong case to make for being a better choice than Houston.

Not that strong of a case. Chicago has a better PF and PG (if Rose is healthy). Houston is not just better but superior at every other position.

The Bulls play in a weaker conference and have a way better coach. And the Rockets are no longer superior at the center position now that Asik is gone.

It has been obvious for a month now, Phillip doesn't want Anthony to resign in NY. Too old and too big a cap hit for a team that is rebuilding.

lol @ "I think Rose getting injured again is unlikely."

Right. I hear Brandon Roy is making a comeback too. ALL IN FOR BROY.

Also, lol @ the Mavs trying to stay relevant. People being into Stein's BS again...classic.

    HAHAHAHHA! Yeah.

Dwight Howard in the playoffs? Did you watch? Apparently not.

Noah is good defensively and in passing situations! His DPOY was a result of his teams perimeter defense that made his life easy.

Howard is clearly better than Noah and even the fans in Chicago know it.

The Rockets are the best basketball situation... However Chicago is attractive enough that if some external force is his motivation (wife-city-etc) he can sell himself on Chicago.

Rose plays sooooo hard and that isn't necessarily good for his knees combined with 82 games a year.

You know.......I'm starting to think Thibs isn't a significantly better coach.

You yourself said Chicago is in a weaker conference. They lost in the first round to a worse team than we did, and in less games.

Do they have a good defense? Sure. But a huge reason why their defense looks good on paper is that their offensive pace is slow as molasses. Their FG% allowed was 2nd in the league at 43.1%. Ours was 6th at 44.4%....and that's with Terrance Jones playing the 4.

I think he'll sign with the bulls. Mainly because the road to the finals is ridiculously easy in the east.

I think the fact that the Bulls play in the 'lesser conference' is their biggest advantage over the Rockets in the Carmelo Anthony Sweep stakes.

Thibs is a good defensive coach, but he's the Dusty Baker of the NBA, he runs his players into the ground with 6 and 7 man rotations.

So Carmelo will broken down two years into the deal? :p

No, I'm not rooting or cheering for an injury.

If Thibs is a good defensive coach (and I'm fine with saying that), then McHale is a good offensive coach.

I just think we're too inconsistent about this stuff. We praise guys like Thibs and run down McHale, when strictly looking at the stats, McHale is clearly the better coach.

In reality, I don't think coaching makes that much of a difference, and neither does Morey (and probably the players).

I agree that Pop is a great coach, but if you listen to him on the sidelines, he isn't saying things much different than any other coach. The Spurs front office is probably as much or more responsible for their long term success.

I think that's a fair comparison, don't get me wrong, people around here would HATE it if Thibs coached this team for some of the same basic reasons they hate McHale.

A lot of people are saying this, but it sure as hell won't be easy if LeBron stays in the East. the Heat have an easy patch to the Finals because they don't have to play against LeBron, as long as he's in the east no team has an easy path to the Finals.

Well it's not even that, I think there is a very slim chance Lebron stays in Miami, but an easy path to the finals is nothing more than an easy to way play a bunch of meaningless games before getting stomped out by superior Western Conference teams which will do nothing more than shorten your career by playing all of that extra basketball.

Im sold at all that the bulls can get past the Heat or Pacers. Rose would really have to come bacl strong which im pretty skeptical of. Lets even assume rose comes back to be 70% of the mvp he used to be, thats being very generous too.

So 17 points, 6 assist, 3 rbd, steal shooting around 42%

    Rose
    McDermott
    Anthony
    Gibson
    Noah

With a complete vet min bench. Even in that best case scenario, I still don't see them taking down miami, maybe the pacers.

Huge risk for Melo to take, but whatever its his choice to make.

Bobby, do you really think LeBron will be a Rocket?
