Anyone else think Jeremy Lin hasn't been moved because New York is interested in him as a S&T piece should Melo choose the Rockets?

I'm not even sure if that's possible financially, just thinking out loud.

For 11-12 million with questions about Derick Rose's knee?

No. Its because they have to move an asset along with Lin.

If they aren't getting a big fish, they don't want to waste an asset if not needed.

If they miss out on the big fish, shedding Asik alone will open up enough cap space to still get a 2nd/3rd tier type free agent anyways which is what they'd be looking at all along.

No reason to blow your (you know what) early in this case.

I think Carmelo ends up going back to NY at the end of the day and I I never thought LBJ would leave Miami. Man I hope Morey has a plan of those two fail which I think is 70/30 happening

We just have to hope Morey's pitch of forming a big 3 with a ready-to-contend roster is good enough for Melo.

If he wants to win, he won't.

    I hope so man.

The hype for Melo to Chicago is insane. He loves Thibs, and they are in the East. Everyone is assuming Rose will come back as the same player he was, and that Noah is all of a sudden the best center in the league. No mention of how cheap their own is either.

Just frustrating. Guess my homer is coming out.

Neither of us would have BAE or MLE in the case that we go under the cap to to sign him as a free agent.

But, if by chance Chicago snd the Knicks were to S&T Anthony for Boozer, the Bulls would keep both their MLE and BAE.

We are already under the cap so we can no longer use MLE or BAE, even if we were to lets say, S&T lin + assets for Anthony.

Thanks man. So that does give an advantage to Chicago, assuming the Knicks want Boozer to pair with Bargnani and Stoudemire.

Assuming we outright sign Carmelo, how would we go about signing additional (presumably veteran) help? Can we go over the cap with it?

Vet minimum and potentially the room exception of around $2 million.

But to your first point, I'd say there's almost zero chance that the Knicks want Boozer, but you never know I guess.

Agree. I'd think Phil Jackson would rather screw over Reinsdorf and make him pay Boozer for zero production after he's amnesited than to help out his old boss.

Jackson seems to be the type to hold grudges - see the whole asterik on the spurs rings, the fact that he even took the Knicks job as a big FU to Jim Buss, and Reinsdorf and him didnt quite end on the greats of terms in chicago (didnt reinsdorf say something like - players/coaches dont win championships - organizations do?) either way - I am sure Jackson would be in no mood to help his former owner out in anyway unless it significantly benefits the Knicks

Especially since the Bulls are in the east. No need for the knicks to help create another super(ish) team in the east.

Cant we sign melo with a 3rd team with cap space and send jeremy lin and the pelicans pcik to third team to absorb salary while keeping us over the cap? That is if knicks refuse to work a SNT with us.

Which they are desperate for picks so I highly doubt the would turn down a Huge TPE and draft picks if they are losing melo anyway.

The one thing about Lebron returning to the Heat is that I hope he does it ASAP (if he's going to do it.)

That way it eliminates that whole "The East is up for grabs!" argument that keeps getting thrown around.

No, you can't do that. A team cannot include another team's free agent in a sign and trade agreement.

Agreed. If Lebron is going to stay I hope he and the Big 3 make it clear from the start so the Rockets don't blow any other opportunities trying to wait on him.
